  1. Hi Guys,

Most of you have been asking why I am not supporting the Empire no longer. Today I type this message for you to inform you of my reasoning.

The reason is Kony 2012. If you do not know what this is, I will explain it to you in a few lines.

In Uganda, children get kidnapped all the time. The man behind these kidnappings is Joseph Kony, a guy who leads something called LRA or lords resistance army. He kidnaps these children, and forces them into becoming children soldiers, he gets them to kill their own parents, mutilate peoples faces and also for the women, into becoming sex slaves.

Kony is a campaign being run by Invisible Children that aims to make Joseph Kony famous, not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice.

He is a war criminal and is first on the most wanted criminal lists all over the world. He MUST be stopped, and to do that we need YOU, YOU need to share his name and make him famous, WE ALL NEED TO TAKE ACTION.

So guys, lets all make it our mission to be able to say:

This is where my money is going, all the money I can possibly afford to give to a worthy cause. (I am at college, and have a loan, but I will stop at nothing to stop Joseph from all the crimes he is committing.) I am taking ACTION, I want this monster rid off, he has no right to do this. I promise you guys, I WILL BE STOPPING AT NOTHING TO HELP WITH KONY 2012.

20th of april is the date I and many others all over the world will be plastering the cities with posters of Joseph to make him known, look on facebook for your local movement, and take action!

I end my post with a video that explains it very well, please guys, even if you cant afford to donate to this, share it around the internet, we need to make this guy known, in order for the USA to do anything about Joseph.

  12. Hopefully this can be put on the front page so more people are made aware of it
  13. As stated in the message reply, we don't want to turn EMC into a political arena for debate, and will keep front page posts to EMC related things only. You are free to have your post, of course, but as soon as we front page one person's agenda, we'd have to post them all. I would suggest, as Liz did to you, try things like Facebook, Twitter and possibly some World News forums. They would be more appropriate for a front page post of his matter.
  14. This shows you can raise masses for any cause if you just can make a nice video. Reminds me of H***'s campains, they had the same appeal then.

Just FYI, this group funds the Ugandan army, which is well known for raping and looting.

  15. I applaud everyone's desire to want to help. But I caution you to research the money and where it is going.
  16. So in other words, when you support this, its still going to something bad...
  17. What JustinGuy perhaps means by this is that organisations that ask for donations to support their cause may not always spend all your money on how you think it is being spent or how you would like it to be spent.

    Check out:

To see how they spend their money. It's not brilliant.
  18. Here is a well thought out article that helps explain what concerns I have around the Invisible Children organization: http://thedailywh.at/2012/03/07/on-kony-2012-2/

Again I will add I am against this type of behavior, it is horrific, but as usual you have to look a little deeper than what Facebook, YouTube, and the mass media is selling you. Be careful what you fund (both with money and spreading awareness).

  19. Yes, and for those that don't want to read it:

By IC’s own admission, only 31% of all the funds they receive go toward actually helping anyone [pdf]. The rest go to line the pockets of the three people in charge of the organization, to pay for their travel expenses (over $1 million in the last year alone) and to fund their filmmaking business (also over a million)

I applaud people that want to support good causes, but you need to be able to define where you're supporting a good cause, or where you're supporting someone who's using a good cause to get support.
  20. Correct this is one valuable piece of information. What worries me about this group is less about how they do their accounting, and more about what their political views are and what they will do with the money that is left over.
