Wow only 2 weeks!? Here we get a full year after the baby is born. My girlfriend will take the first 3 months (or before if she feels up to it) and then I will take the next 9 off. More for financial reasons since she makes double what I do and on unemployment you only get 55% of your normal salary.
Ahhh here it works differently. The mother gets up to 12 months off that can begin 2 months before the due date. For the first 6 weeks, she'll get 90% of her weekly wage, but after that she'll get £150 a week or continue the 90% of the weekly wage thing - whichever one works out cheaper. She isn't allowed to return to work until 2-4 weeks after the birth, depending on what the job is. The father gets 2 weeks after the birth gets £150 a week or the 90% too.
