No, it's not wrong to hide his bases (or anyone) 'cause we all know that there are a bunch of griefers, but YES it's wrong to proclaim yourself king of something just you and a closed member group can see No, i'm not stating he has to give the bases to state that he's a good/bad or whatever mod, i'm just going around with the word "king" Idk what he is doing or not for the community, but i'm shure there it's nothing going on aroud all the new people that needs help, those guys who are not DIAMOND supporters, those guys with few tools and few experience on EMC and those guys who may be alone in the wild looking for some friendly help (don't even call the guide here 'cause the guide it's not made for that). He might be playing with the mob cap and mob spawning so that FIRST of all, he and his ultra hidden xp grinder (which it's huge and with a huge mob spawn cap) can get enough xp or the ammount of mobs he wants to get, i see it like he wants to do it mainly because HE needs it, otherwhise why he camed with that thread "ATTENTION POTENTIAL XP'ERS"? Finally, something as a KING (which he proclaims to be so) to the wild community and a moderator of the empire minecraft servers would be finiding new ways to help people in wild, searching for ideas and implementing them, purposing stuff to help wild (not only his huge xp grinder) people in the staff forums and getting inovation here. Stating here that i'm a god doesnt make me a god.
I will let you keep your opinions, despite the fact that they differ from mine. I, however, am not Aikar, I was simply pointing out facts. I am not keen to get into a big argument at the moment, especially over something concerning another member. I'm sure this little debate will be better served by Aikar than me.
I was gonna weigh in here but secret stole most of my thunder, so Ill just make a few comments and stand idle until Aikar arrives to defend himself. First, WILD base contest? No thanks, and good luck with that! I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I dont want to draw attention to my hidden wild base! The more people that see it, the more well know it becomes, the more likey it will be greifed. Wild bases are by design, hidden.... the more ultra hidden the better. The same goes for mob/xp grinders, which have this annoying habbit on not working when they are griefed, so it's pretty imperative that the remain ultra hidden. No one should have to defend keeping their bases or grinders hidden.. EVER. Mods are players, just like us. If they didnt enjoy the game they wouldnt be here. Being a MOD doesnt mean you can't build and enjoy playing the game when you arent doing Mod tasks. And just because you dont see what a MOD is doing for the community, that doesnt mean they are doing nothing. Aikar has helped me with some issues I had at my wild base, as well as identified a giant-mushroom bonemeal glitch that is server wide. And he is working with Justin and ICC to try and make the livemap less usefull to people who intend on griefing others AND working on implementing a MOB cap to address the AFK xp grinders sucking up all the server mops. Yeah, Aikar's passion is wild communites and as a person with a wild community I am glad we have someone advocating our intrests and concerns, the playfull "king" signature is semantics and is being taken way to literally... it doesnt warrant this witch-hunt for petes sake. Two, my original point to the OP, if you want to see cool creations, surf the forums, they ARE out there waiting to be seen... watch the "SPOTLIGHT" video on the home page and go check out those creations or even go to all the smps and go /v random. I applaud your idea to get a thread going where people all post pics of their work, but making a comment about EMC being "boring" and insinuating that because you havent seen anything resently means no one has done anything cool... well, frankly you invited all these posts that now make up this thread..
1. We don't know what Aikar does and does not do. The mods have their own forums and such that only they can see. I see him doing his job at banning those who need it etc. He didn't make that thread to say "Oh all I care about is mob grinders and XP" He made it to help others. I was told the reason he hasn't been active last few days told is he's on vacation. His King in his signature has just as much right as your Delta Team logo. It's just a signature in a game, it's not that serious. 2. I doubt people being banned are spreading rumors and it having that much an effect on EMC. Some things to consider are People are always getting banned because they keep getting caught doing ban-able things. Some are dealing with school which takes up a lot of their time. People have jobs and such. It's getting closer to summer in part of the world so that's going to be affecting it as well. 3. If you're bored with the Empire go do some other stuff. If you're tired of town go to the wild. I've gotten to where 75% of the time I'm out in the wild just so I have peace and quiet.
Don't even get me started on legislation that denies us our constitutional rights... (In the US, that is...)
For everyone who thinks that the Empire economy is fun, I just want to point one thing out (not trying to hate here ). Empire claims to be a close to vanilla server, yet there is no economy system (unless you use items) in vanilla minecraft. The economy in empire used to be a small part of Empire, just a way to get something in return for giving people stuff. Now, it's almost all about the money, literally.
How has this suddenly turned into an Aikar bashing thread? On topic: Vanilla MC is dull. You can build all the wonderful creations you like, but what's the point at the end of the day? There are tons of great builds on every SMP on EMC, but how many people pay attention or really care? The purpose of EMC is to socialise, make friends and get involved in the Economy. I'd love for there to be some really exciting and interesting mods on EMC or some interesting limitations in the Town system which would make things a bit more challenging, but we wont see any of that, so ultimately, make the most of what EMC offers or look elsewhere. I've looked, it's hard to find anything that matches what EMC has.
Only one person on here will work for me without rupees pay. Out of some thousands of people, only one. It is getting dull here... there needs to be more nice people.
cause its nice to help people. I still pay people, i am not cheap. I am very low on rupees and can't pay people atm. Ever heard of the word "Kindness"? Obviously not.
Ever heard of the concept of people using their spare time to play a game and not wanting to get nothing in return for an hour of dirt digging on someones Res? Everyone deserves to be paid for doing a job unless they state they're happy not to.
I forget which mod's signature it is, but it says if you wouldn't do it in real life don't do it on here. If you would come to my house and dig my in-ground pool for free than I welcome you with open arms, but I doubt you would.
