I fired up 1.9 snapshot today (to test / experiment with a singleplayer map) and I was suddenly reminded about the one thing which I do dislike in 1.9, and with dislike I mean dislike with a passion: the changed sounds of the doors and buttons. Ugh! Thing is: they didn't really change those, they merely added a crudely set up low pass filter (audio filter). And actually working with that stuff in a semi-professional way makes their work hurt my ears
And I see exactly no proof of that? I get that I was sampling a very small population and I know that can't be accurate, but I don't see you or Sean trying to find people that do like the update and quoting them here. I'm getting some mixed messages here. Earlier in the thread you admitted that there was more to PvP than "spam-clicking" and now you're saying the combat system in 1.7/8 is just spam clicking? Also how did you manage to think up the idea that I can't fight for more than one minute? How does that even make sense--at all? You have to deal with it, because the servers you play on will be updating to 1.9. My real passion in Minecraft is PvP and I'll have the option to play on 1.7 servers or 1.9 servers. Personally I'll choose the former. Why would I force myself to play something I hate? Please actually pick a side and stay with it. Do you: a) think pvp is all spam clicking; or b) think there's some sort of skill involved? You can't seem to make up your mind. PvP me. I'm AFK on 6 now, just PM me and I'll hear it. You have a sword. I'll use a bow, rod, and sword. We'll see who wins. I If PvP is all spam clicking it should be close, right? My guess is, your "anybody" statement will be wrong.
Ok let me restate that, considering how when I say pvp events, I mean event such as Kill Krysyy/Aikar/Toade/Anyone Else, not 1v1. I don't try and 1v1 you during those events
To counter your first point I would copy and paste comments here if I could but I can't because I'm using a tablet. To counter your second point I don't just think it's spam clicking and it does take a minimal amount of skill. I never did say that I don't think it's just spam clicking. But all I hear you all whining about is the spam clicking and not being able to do your combo attacks. I never assumed that you couldn't fight more than 1 min but the way all of you are talking about how long combat will take makes it sound like it would take 15 min or something. I really don't care if you don't play 1.9 if your not going to even play it why are you so angry. Would a basketball player get all wound up if somebody changed the rules of baseball? To counter your third statement I would if I could and that match is unfair on so many levels. If I would fight you I would do it on equal ground. Also I think you misinterpreted that a bit.
To be fair, I think he would if it were this drastic. After doing some PvP, I see what Penguin is going on about. He is used to those 5 second fights. Two things I have noticed: Bows need a cooldown A sword and a bow is pretty good to have and trumps most other combos. Fishing rods need more usability Enemies run away far too often which makes you wish the fishing rod was more usable. If you have a slowness arrow, the fishing rod problem can be diminished. But, yeah, with some improvements, it can be pretty cool. Also, they need to fix fishing rods in the off hand.
To be honest you are right about the bows, they need a cooldown. Because bow spamming is the most annoying thing in PvP for me personally. As for the combat I do think it is making combat more realistic because in real life people can't spam swords and use fishing rods to pull/knockback people. But I do need to admit whoever did come up with the fishing rod as a weapon thing was a genius.
I think it's cool I like new features in any game, everyone usually gets go butthurt about when ever there is a change in any video game. You guys will start to like it eventually, I use the forums of emc and sometimes play the actual game, but this new pvp things sound interesting and I might try some factions servers or pvp servers to test out these new things, I heard something about wings in the update, sounds like a big wtf to me... I mean mine craft is a sandbox survival game about dragons and building things and such, but having wings and flying around sounds kind of odd, also if emc ever updates to 1.9 (10 years later) then what will happen about the utopia flying, because everyone will be able to fly then. Also those new arrows sounds neat, pvp will be so much more interesting than those super annoying God apple and diamond armor and swords endless battles about who has more sets of armor, these new pvp concepts will make it more than just breaking expensive mouses pvp that it is now.
