Wild and/or Nether reset for 1.5?

  1. As most of you know, the first 1.5 screenshot was released today. I remember Twitch used to make a lot of helpful threads like this, but he's busy so I figured I'd try and help out. Check this place out for all the latest 1.5 development news each week. :) I'm just reporting the latest - I edit very little.

    Also the poll is not official in any-way - I would just like to give myself and others an early and brief insight into where the community stands regarding this possible future debate.

    • Redstones circuits are more consistent and pistons should be more stable
    • Added the Redstone Comparator
    • Added the Daylight Sensor block
    • Added a Hopper block (still work in progress)
      • Places and takes out items in Hoppers, Chests, Furnaces, Chest Minecart, Dispensers, and Brewing Stands.
      • Still W.I.P. and the inventory icon says WIP.
    • Added a Trapped Chest that activates redstone
      • Gives out a signal depending on the amount of players looking inside. 1 person = 1 strength signal, 2 people = 2, etc.
      • Crafted with a Chest and a Tripwire Hook.
      • Large Trapped Chests can be staggered with Large Chests to allow more compact storage.
      • Texture is slightly different than a normal chest, with a red stain around the latch.
    • Added Weighted Pressure Plates that detects item stacks
      • Gold version reaches full strength at 60 items.
      • Iron version reaches full strength at 600 items.
      • Linear, so 10 strength signal means twice as many items as a 5 strength signal.
    • Added Block of Redstone to store redstone dust similar to blocks of diamond, etc. (works as a pushable redstone torch)
    • Added a new Nether Quartz Ore to the Nether
      • Drops Nether Quartz
    • Added a Nether Brick (item) for crafting Nether Brick blocks
      • Obtained by smelting Netherrack
      • Crafting recipe is 2x2 Nether Bricks.
    • Inventory management changes
      • Holding down the left and right mouse buttons and dragging when holding an item now splits the items across the boxes you dragged over. Left button splits them equally across the boxes and leaves the remainder in your hand. Right mouse button drops them one by one as you drag.
      • Double-clicking an item stacks as much of that item in your inventory as possible (up to a full stack) and picks it up without stacking any other loose stacks together.
      • Double-shift-clicking an item in a chest moves all of that item into your inventory neatly stacked into as few stacks as possible. The opposite is also true, moving all the items to the chest in as few stacks as possible.
    Bugs Fixes:

    • Breaking a block with a Redstone Torch on the side of the block doesn't break the torch.
    • In Creative mode, there are nine empty spaces at the bottom of Building Blocks.
    • When making an Iron Golem, it appears that only the top iron block is used.
    • When using hoppers to place items into or take items out of minecarts, it works with other minecarts and not just chest minecarts.
    • problem with world generation. stripes without trees until y = 80

    By far my most favourite bug ever lol.

    As for the nether reset poll, I don't think it will ever be reset. As I said in my thread, there are far too many player created structures in the nether to warrant a reset, just like the wild. I imagine if you go out far enough, the nether quartz will spawn.

  6. Its not really fair on the blaze spawner and the massive mob killing device's to lose it all.

    And I like Rainbows. Its more picturey, I like pictures :D

  7. Yeah, but there's always gonna be those few people that want it reset cos they cbb going out that far, so it'll probably be a poll. I know that Bigdavie, I think it was him, also agrees that there won't be one :)

  9. No don't reset the neter and wild, people have pay money for some spawners and when its reset everyting is gone!!!!! And in the nether have people make ways to the netherfortres and I can say much of things like tihs more!!!!!! So pleas don't reset it.

  13. Getting far enough in the nether isn't too difficult, all you have to do is go to a wild outpost and make a nether portal, that takes you a pretty decent amount into the nether.

Maybe emc thaven't to remove everything maybe they cen hold the b.v. nether and wild but in the wild rendomly spawn the emerald ore and in the nether they can randomly spawn the new nether ore, so everyting is still ther but whit a few new random spawned blocks.(i don't now of it can but maybe) :D
  15. It can't - well it can, as long as you haven't explored it yet but that's vanilla.
  16. All I can say on the matter is that there wasn't a shortage of people going out to unloaded chunks to grind wither skeletons when they first came out. I can't imagine this should be any different.

    Go to the nether, dig a stair down to level 5, grab a few effeciency / unbreaking picks, pick a direction and within minutes you're in new territory.:p I could see if it was the wild and digging and travel took a while but traveling through nether rack isnt really even a hinderence. You can run and mine it at the same time.

    And I love the inventory changes. I dont use any mods besides optifine and Reis but I have wanted the ability to spread crafting items for ever!!!
  17. I believe, instead of resetting the WHOLE nether, they should reset something like 100-500 blocks out from spawn... That is what they should reset, NOT the whole nether, that, I agree, would be disasterous :).

    • Improved texture packs
      • Textures now use one file per block/item, which are stitched together at runtime - Texture sizes don't need to be consistent
      • Any block and item can be animated by putting the frames underneath each other in the right .png - Use an optional .txt to specify frame order and duration
      • Special rules apply for water, lava, compass and clock
      • Existing texture packs will "automagically" be converted
      • Vanilla textures will be used if texture files are missing

    • Improved Skeletons aim - Now shoot from 15 blocks away, instead of 10
    • Improved naming (using the anvil) of containers and mob eggs
      • Mobs spawned from renamed eggs have the name of the egg and the names will appear in the death message
      • Mobs can now display their custom name as nametag using an NBT tag
      • Renamed Chests and Trapped Chests will display their new name when opened in the top left corner
    • Added and improved death messages - Now include the cause of death, the player the deceased player was fighting at time of death and the name of the item used to kill
      • Player fell off a ladder
      • Player fell off some vines
      • Player fell out of the water
      • Player fell from a high place
      • Player fell into a patch of fire
      • Player fell into a patch of cacti
      • Player got finished off by Player/Mob using Weapon
      • Player walked into a fire whilst fighting Player/Mob

    • Trapped chests now give off the redstone signal through walls - Doesn't actually work
    • Updated language files
      • Language files can now be updated via the background downloader (no need for a new Minecraft release)
    • Trapped Chest is now in Decoration Blocks in creative mode inventory
    • Added Block of Quartz, Chiseled Quartz Block, Pillar Quartz Block, Quartz Stairs, andQuartz Slab
    • Added Activator Rail
      • Used to trigger TNT Minecarts
      • Needs to be powered by redstone
      • Transmits power up to 8 activator rails far

      • When fed by containers, they will now start giving out a signal as soon as 1 item is in the container, allowing for empty container detection
    • Improved the Hopper
      • Is now controllable by redstone - Power it to disable item forwarding
      • Added a proper icon
      • Is no longer considered wooden (can't be used as a fuel in a furnace, etc.)
      • New crafting recipe uses iron ingots rather than stone
    • Changed the chests in abandoned mineshafts to Minecart with Chest
    • Removed the smooth double stone slab
    • The texture for melon and pumpkin stems has changed
    • The inventory icon for Powered Rails is now un-powered.

    Bug fixes:

    • Fixed minecart sound getting stuck on long cart rides and getting bumby, choppy
    • Fixed joining/updating servers taking very long
    • Fixed clicking quickly in succession in GUIs ignoring clicks
    • Fixed inactive detector rails giving redstone signals through solid blocks next to them
    • Fixed an item duplication bug with the hopper
    • Fixed cacti growing way too fast
    • Fixed byte reading code sometimes reading the wrong bytes
