    "ur Christian and u listen to that devil music? S h a m e."

Yeah, I think it's stupid people say the world is a strong 6,000 years old. Silly Christians!

    Try 4.5 Billion years old

We have evidence of fossils going back way beyond 6,000 years. Jericho, the oldest city in the world, and even in the bible was built 11,000 years ago. I believe in God, but there's no way our earth is 6,000 years old... I need to do more research for myself, but it's 4.5 billion years old for now...

Simple solution: still be a Christian but just believe the world is 4.5 billion years old. :D I personally don't think that thinking the world is 4.5 billion years old, or even thinking that the big bang was real, should be reasons to not be considered a Christian. :)

I don't believe in the big bang, I just don't think our earth is 6,000 years old. And yes, I can still be a christian and believe in an old earth :)

I don't know anyone so hardcore in their beliefs that they believe the world is 6,000 years old *personally*. Everyone takes it as a fact that the planet is 4.5 billion years old, life is 4 billion years old, etc.

Did you know that, before the Mongols and Turks took over, Arabia and Islam was a sprawling mass of scientific and philosophical ideals and a love for it all? Christians and Europe took that role after them. You don't have to believe the world is 6,000 years old :)

I respect the profound scientific side to early Islam a lot, it is very interesting :) Each religion has their ups and downs I guess, it would be controversial to pinpoint everything, but no one is perfect...

The thing with many religions is that sadly some people take it too far or read differently into it, causing bad things. I like to think that all(/most) religions exist to try to make the world a better place, just some have worked out better than others, and per religion too, some people have worked out this "better world" principle better than others.

I agree with that, and through experience, I can say Christianity is probably the most confused main religion out there. I know about the Shia and Sunni problems in Islam, but since Christianity is so vast there is so many misinterpretations and generalizations.

You are mistaken, Soul, by saying "I don't know anyone so hardcore in their beliefs that they believe the world is 6,000 years old *personally*". ;)

Yeah, I find it likely. It's not very important to my faith, though.

The World is far too fine-tuned for life, cosmological constant very small, so little Dark Energy.

In anything other than a place where space and time dimensions multiply to 3, it's either too simple, unstable or Causality completely breaks. The only other viable Spacial-Time Dimension combination for matter is all Tachyons, faster-than light matter that makes life next to impossible.

The 6,000 year age was arrived at by James Ussher, a 17th century Irish Archbishop who counted up estimates of the ages of Abraham’s family listed in the Old Testament and calculated that the creation began (on the Julian calendar) on Saturday, October 22, 4004 BC, at 6 pm. Really....

Usher made a lot of assumptions, chose to ignore inconsistencies within even those scriptural sources known at that time, and was unaware of certain, now obvious translation issues, importantly including the way the Babylonians counted.

1 Time Dimension, more than 3 Space Dimensions: Unstable, Breakdown of Atomic Orbits. More than 2 Time Dimensions, more than 2 Space Dimensions: Breakdown of Causality. 3 Time Dimensions, 1 Space Dimension: Tachyons Only. 1 Space Dimension, more than 3 Time Dimensions: Unstable. Breakdown of Atomic Orbits.
