  1. Probably not.
  2. Cant you reset all exept Utopia insted since most of the guys who are complaining have theire stuff at Utopia :)
  3. I have to say, with all of the complications associated with the 1.1 to 1.2 changes to the terrain, I feel it would be beneficial to the community as a whole to reset the entire seed of the wilderness.
The periodic reset areas would function, the new jungle biome will spawn more consistently.
The new terrain will refresh the exploration excitement for a while.
The wild was never meant to be permanent. Being resistant to change shows that some people are delusional...
No one should have decided to ignore the principals stated up front. By closing your mind to reality, you have caused the detrimental break down you are feeling because you lived in a false sense of security.
I realize that the nature of the beast is difficult, however, change is good.

I support the reset, as the sooner it is completed, the sooner the community can enjoy the refreshing feeling of discovery, the sooner the healing will begin...
Please, do not feel offended by what I have said. I have been up for 26 hours already... My mind can't focus anymore....
  4. I belive that It is easier to say yes to reset if you dont have any big thing in the wild :)
  5. Reset asap? Yes please!
  6. I have quite a bit invested in the wild but I did not build it with the belief that it was permanent... I have been here since October last year... I have been around since EMC started to grow into what it is now.
You have to give credit to the EMC community, as we are collective in deciding the future of our server, rather than being run as a dictatorship...
Other servers have just wiped the slate clean each time an SMP update has hit, without warning.. Here in EMC, we have Town to avoid doing such a thing to our members....

  7. Yeah it is, but that's always going to be the case and at the end of the day it's about the solution that works best for the most people. As Spock would say, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."

That said, I think we were pretty lucky to get away with no reset last update, but last time it was just aesthetics - some stuff didn't look quite right. Sure there's lots of people who think that resetting the wild will magically make everyone respect deserts and whatever, but this time there are bugs. Bugs that actually are very frustrating for everyone. Force-fields in newly explored areas, nether portals above bedrock and so on.

If it were just a matter of aesthetics, or people wanting to be lazy, I think there would be a different outcome, but I think this time, there needs to be a reset because not resetting will do more harm to EMC than not resetting.

  8. This is a great idea as it is often impossible to move anywhere in the wilderness without falling in a mine or discovering a house. However i do understand that many people have houses in the wild (including me) and this house may have taken a long time to build. I think the 1 week notice is great so no one can complain that they didn't hear about it.
  9. It looks, from the voting table, that the reset supporters will have their way. So I suppose I will have to restart my underground forest, home and railway, say byebye to my little doggies :(
I only live in the wilderness on smp1 - cities I find boring. But as in life, you come into the world with nothing and you leave it with nothing ;)

  10. Although I was one of the first to jump on the RESET bandwagon, some of the reasons that are being given are invalid. For example, a reset will not lead to more resources. In a theoretically infinite world, there are theoretically infinite resources. No matter how much you mine, the total resources left in the wild will still be theoretically infinite. The ability to explore new territory will, likewise, be infinite. The practicality of exploring new territories and mining new resources may be inversely proportional to the distance from a spawn, however.

[edit]I neglected to mention the practical limitations of the servers which also prevent the worlds from being truly "infinite."

  11. I voted mainly due to the Xp farms and loot farms (Which are over 50,000 blocks in total) If this were to go ahead, I would request that the area around the Xp farm on utopia is left.
  12. I am all for this reset considering this new biome ect... However, I would like to add that I have searched the live map before and seen some wilderness projects way out. Like 30000+ blocks out. Anyway, a few are HUGE and I can't help but feel bad for them. If this reset is what has to happen then so be it, but perhaps there should be another block added around the yellow border on the live map. This border would indicate that from here on out unless it was a catastrophic issue the area outside of this would not get reset. That way people would feel confident that their castle they decided to build so far out wouldn't get wiped every so often.

Also, I am definitely for this using /vault in the wild to retrieve all my stuff that is in wilderness. Unfortunately, I do see this getting abused as a "backpack" of sorts by quite a bit of people. Although this sounds like fun, I wonder if there shouldn't be like a usage per day put into effect. I don't know how difficult this would be to program but it would at least steer some abuse from happening. Lastly, I would like to propose a means of using /town in the wild on a given last 24hours of the countdown. I personally have an hour and a half walk back, I know there are others with at least a 3+hours walk back.
  13. Dark, it would only be in effect until the wilderness is reset. then it'll need to be reset in 1 week again when it turns back into a wasteland.
  14. Ok if we reset, I would suggest that areas around the portals be pre-explored (generated) by say 3k blocks ... just to avoid lag from exploring at first.

  15. I am not convinced that resetting is in the best interest of the community, but it appears that the majority has spoken. I, like many others, live almost exclusively in the wild and will have to cope with months of work on my 'res' outside of town undone. :(

  16. Good idea to rester the worlds :)
  17. i also think its a good idea because the spawn looks nice but as soon as you pass the protected spawn its a disaster so im up for it and we would also get jungle biomes :D
  18. Connor, We already have jungles, You just need to do this strange thing to people nowadays called 'explore' Instead of walking 5 blocks..

  19. There's an alternate way to do this: Move the spawn 100.000 blocks and provide a portal to the old spawn. The region around the new spawn will be completely 1.2.3-generated and glitch-free.

  20. Henry, That's actually a really good idea.
