  1. Ender Chests don't work cross-server- I know that much. I just wonder if I make a 'locked' one, will it make it ungriefable.

Actually- if someone wants to hope on LLO and test it with me- that would be great!
    :D

    Yay! Thank you!

  2. The term "hack" predates computers by a few decades (at least!), and the modern term grew through the "hackers" working at MIT in the late 50's and early 60's.

  4. Am I the only one that didn't take the term 'hack' literally?
  5. Apparently so.

Has anyone else noticed that all leaf blocks no matter what tree they come from are all named "Oak Leaves" ?

  6. Ive seen the word hack used to mean neat trick or unusual shortcut. Ive seen articles about life hacks, money hacks, etc. So hack does not necessarily mean a computer program.

  8. Yeah I found that. And Luke4214 was finding it difficult to work out which leaves were the right ones when he built his house.

  9. Well... when you are on a computer game forum, and you say hack, you should know what the outcome will be...

  14. What's up with that huge walkway looking thing I saw on the live map just south of LLO?

  15. I don't believe so. The latter term is derived directly (evolutionarily) from the former. Homonyms requrire different etymology. I probably could have written that more clearly, but I'm a hack. To be clear, I've never been a hack.

  16. You are probably looking at the precursor to the wall I'm building? Mine is made of cobble. Or are you talking about the partially completed disc 'o dirt?

  17. CYPHER WUT R U DOIN? CYPHER STAHP!

Also I helped him test the locking of Enderchests and it doesn't work. I guess they figured since people can't steal your items they don't need to be locked.

  18. You cannot lock an enderchest in the wild. I know this because I tried. :(

EDIT: Pandas beat me to it :D

  19. Wow sick minds do think alike :D. I was thinking the same thing. A NoSQL database like MongoDB would be great for this. Right now, I am just putting the downloaded JSON files in a gzipped tar file, so there is one tar file for every day of the month. That way, I don't have thousands of JSON files clogging up the filesystem.

The reason why my query script is slow is because iterating through all the JSON files in a single tar file without unzipping it is slow. I don't know if this is because of the tar library I use or because of the nature of tar files.
