Pokemon Sun/Moon Talk

  1. That's gonna be SO much fun to find them all (sarcasm)...I collected them as the story progressed and have about 45 or so.
  2. it actually is fun though, it's not like they are terribly hard to find.. you just have to go explore all the islands during both day and night. i was doing that anyway while leveling up and finding the stones and TMs and all that.

  7. If you don't want to get too serious with the games or get into the competitive PvP environments, this information might not be for you.

After fiddling around in calculators, I want to talk about damage in Pokemon. Some of this will be already well-understood. Others, maybe not so much.

    First, here's Pokémon's Damage Formula:

    Damage (Hp) = ((2(Lv.) + 10)/250)(Attack./Defense.)(Power)(Modifier)(Rate) + 1

    In order of parenthesis:

    * Base decimal by attacker's level.

    ** Ratio of attacker's Attack/Special Attack and defender's Defense/Special Defense.

    *** Power of the attack.

**** Other damage multipliers, including type effectiveness, Same-Type Attack Bonus (STAB), held items, abilities, field conditions, Battle Format, etc.

***** One of 16 random to-hundredth decimals from 0.85 to 1. This value makes attacks damage in a range -- from 85 to 100%.

    -

I've found that this formula is very consistent when changing variables, except level and rate. Double Attack -- doubles damage; double Defense -- halves damage.

And it doesn't matter where multipliers are placed, as long they don't go with level or rate. A singularly "Not Very Effective" hit (0.5x) from 400 Attack is the same as a neutral hit from 200 Attack, given the other variables stay the same.

The websites Bulbapedia and Serebii both offer more detail on damage modifiers.

  8. I've been in an Ingrain for what to do for Tapu Bulu...

    Base Speed: 75

A Choice Scarf isn't enough to out-speed unscarfed, Ash Greninja (132), without a Jolly nature, and it out-slows less than half of all Pokémon to move first in a Trick Room.
  9. It's like you're speaking a different language there ForeverMaster... but are you simply talking about how to catch Tapu Bulu or how to defeat it? or are you talking about something completely different?

I have caught all four of the Tapu pokemon, had to use roughly 20 Ultra balls on each of them so it's a good thing I picked up that million token (or whatever they call money in that world) gift.
  10. He's talking to more of the competitive aspect of the game. Specifcally a problem he has with dealing with ash-Greninja's high base speed compared to Tapu Bulu.

Choice scarf is an item that boosts the user's speed (but locks them into 1 move)

  11. So if you guys are needing other starters I can send over some of them. So far in Wonder Trade I have gotten at least 3 of each.
As for the game, I havent completed it yet due to work cutting into my free time, but I am about to smack around Team Skull in Po Town, to kinda give you a heads up of where I am at
  12. I've made my decisions now.

I got a box of Popplios from recent breeding, including some female ones.

I'm looking for someone to trade me an Alolan Vulpix with its Hidden Ability - Snow Warning. Icepix is exclusive to Sun. I have Moon.
  13. what's the story here? I have an Alolan Vulpix with Snow Warning that I'm trying to evolve to a Ninetails. I could do some breeding and trade you, but what is Icepix? is that a move or an evolution?
  14. icepix is slang for alolan vulpix as its an ice type not a fire type

    must resist latin facts
vulpus is latin for fox :)

  15. ahhh, in that case if you get a Sandshrew and breed it, put it up for trade in GTS for a Vulpix and someone will do it... that's how I got mine and I have Moon as well
  16. Sure I could do a trade with you. I don't have a Sandshrew, but I do have lots of other Pokémon with perfect IVs and a beneficial nature.

  17. Thought I'd give an update... I'm at 98% full on my Pokedex for Pokemon Moon. I just need a few Pokemon that are hard to get like Weavile and Scizor. I have all the legendaries now. One thing I'm going to be doing today is evolving my Rhyhorn to get the final evolution there. The last evolve I did was my Type:Null to get the Silvally, took a few days of fighting with him to get the friendship up high enough to do that.

I'm totally up for helping others by trading but I only know how to use GTS and Wonder Trade, I don't know how to use a friend code or whatever to trade so if someone wants to do that I'll need some guidance.

  18. I would be interested in somebody offering a Snow Warning Alolan Vulpix for a Slush Rushing Alolan Sandshrew.

Snow Warning and Slush Rush are Hidden Abilities to Alolan Vulpix and Alolan Sandshrew.
  19. how do you trade with a specific player though and not just a random player in GTS? I see "link trade" as an option but that appears to just be players close to you.
  20. I think both players have to add each other by 3DS Friend Codes.

    Here's my friend code:
