  1. Hello Empire
I am guilty of afking, as some of you are, I'm sure. The rules in the wiki state nothing about afking not being legal, they even allow auto clickers. What the rules state is that you must be able to respond to staff at all times. I simply don't understand this rule. When I try to contact staff, they don't Immediately respond to my beck and call, so why must we be required to respond to them immediately? I simply do not understand this rule, as nearly everyone on emc has afkd at one time or another. And what does it hurt? If a server is getting full enough, I understand that we shouldn't be taking an active player's active time, but the last couple days, staff has been moving through utopia kicking unresponsive players repeatedly, when there's only 8 or 10 players on. So to put this in prospective, paying members aren't allowed to be on a server designed for paying members, even when no one else is on. Could there possibly be a rule change here maybe for supporters ONLY on utopia? And along with that rule, how about a rewrite saying that you only get kicked when the server is too full? I am simply saying that I don't feel it's right for staff to go hunting for people who are afk, especially on utopia.
  2. I'm pretty sure the server auto kicks afk people after a while

  3. If you are referring to earlier when Simon kicked everyone that didnt respond on Utopia... many in game players got mad.

Staff dont kick people all the time Simon went through kicking people because he had spare time. He wasnt targeting Utopia specifically, but he had extra time to kick people.

edit: this is the first time I ever saw staff kick anyone in my 1000+ days.
  4. I believe auto kick only occurs when a server hits 33 of 45 player. He stated that there was only 8 or 10 people on at the time.
  5. Server auto kick idle players when either the server is full OR if you are idling while there is a lot of lag.
  6. Isn't there limited normal player slots on Utopia? If there were afk'ers taking up those limited slots than I believe they should be kicked.
  7. I didnt know if utopia started at 33 or if it started earlier.
  8. nah, simon was kicking afkers manually
  9. It was a manual kick of paying supporters on a supporter server. That is the point I am making here. I am OK with the auto kick because the server is full, but if emc is going to start kicking supporters off of a server for afking when there is no one else on, then maybe I need to think a bit harder about why I am supporting.
  10. That was just a staff member having fun
  11. I came on shortly after, and most of the other supporters didn't find it very entertaining.
  12. Rule 2:

    • Automating actions, including - but not limited to - using auto-clickers, is legal as long as you are not AFK while doing so and the ability does not exceed normal play ability. You must be aware, and able to respond to staff and Minecraft at all times.

  13. autoclicking is only okay if you respond, afking without having an autoclicker on is also okay and you arent required to respond although people can request you to be kicked if you are like at their creations and in the way. if something other then these two things happened message simon about it politely and include the community managers in the convo.

the reasoning for the clicking kicks is that it circumvents the afk system (basically breaking rules) but since we cant rlly tell the difference between someone sitting there lawfully holding down a button and someone not even in the room if you dont respond you will be kicked.

the rule for this is the second rule: Automating actions, including - but not limited to - using auto-clickers, is legal as long as you are not AFK while doing so and the ability does not exceed normal play ability. You must be aware, and able to respond to staff and Minecraft at all times.

  14. So does this mean going afk is illegal?
  15. no it means that interacting with the game world while not at your keyboard is illegal

  16. no, but simon said:

"players will be kicked if they do not respond to a staff member within 5 minutes"
  17. Thx for clearing that up for me. :)
  18. True, but why the witch hunt? That rule has been pretty lenient for the year I've played. I don't see why that rule gives anyone the right to go out specifically looking for rulebreakers. I would much rather see staff cracking down on rules that hurt other players, Like scamming, spamming, or public drama. I just don't feel it is a very sensible rule, at the very least for the utopia server.

  19. If there were lag/performance issues, he may have been trying to get rid of the problem. At that point rule breaking or not, he can kick you because it could prevent larger issues with the server.
  20. Yes but Simon did this in his spare time. Meaning that no reports were filed and since he had time on his hands he did what a staff member should do, punish players that are breaking the rules. (Not trying to sound harsh but couldn't find any softer words.)
