  3. then that would be not very smart on their part... it clearly screams right in your face, many times NOT to build there, regardless of the reasons, locked chests and houses built there shouldn't even have happened. that isn't why the wastelands were constructed.
    the gold old days. lol
obviously... someone needs to reset the wastelands at least once a month, and it isn't/hasn't been maintained with the "frequent resets" i thought it was on a certain timer.. but i guess it isn't.

  4. I understand, and I agree, but maybe I didn't make myself clear before.
I think that given the circumstances, some people might cause problems and complain if the wast was reset, (although they wouldn't be in the majority), because of building these things. I do hope EMC would give some forewarning to avoid this conflict if it does get reset.
  5. waste*
  6. It has happened that I've had people who have been gone fore days at a time come back from the frontier/waste and say they were stuck. Of course, I have no way of knowing if they were telling the truth or not.
  7. usually aikar has given a 3 or 4 day advance on notifications that it is reset, he's never just reset it out of the blue. but even then, people would complain not to... but that is what it is for. a way to mine things, and reset so we never run out of minable places without ripping the frontier to hell and back. :\
i don't think they have much room to complain, there is ample warnings every time they log in/teleport/and leave a spawn point telling them that that world isn't to be used for bases/or building/storing things.

there is an edit button instead of making new posts. :) and a feature where you can quote someone as many times as you want to lesson the amounts of posts one after another.

  9. are you using Firefox? it's prone to not work.. hitting 'more' on that little box will take you to another page so you can edit it. :) future aid lol
  10. I think the point of the wastelands reset is to generate any new items that may possibly be included. Resetting the waste before the new update may mess with this new block / world generation and you will not find the new items anywhere except 25k+ out in the frontier ;)

I know it's hard to wait for a wastelands reset but we must be patient. The reset will come faster than you think.
  11. According to one of the Admins (Forgot who it was), the Wastelands reset with every new Minecraft update. So, when 1.8 is officially released on EMC, that's when the Wastelands will reset.
  12. We reset every so often when it gets bad, and I think we are due for one. We will see about planning one for end of this week.

Typically we've only reset during version updates which is less than 24 hr notice, but last time I think we gave 2 day notice...

Consider this a notice, formal one soon.
  13. If you can put a notice so it appears on the server as part of the update feed and also as you enter the wasteland (very specific - wasteland will be resetting within 3 days) that would further avoid any resentment. Not everyone checks the site. 3 days should be more than enough notice.
  14. It shouldn't be a judgement call of "when it gets bad". Just schedule it quarterly and upon MC updates. Nobody wants to join EMC and go out to find a destroyed land. I wish we could reset the wild out 3k or so...you can't claim land in that zone. Move established bases in that area as requested by owners for a fee (yeah, I know it's not that easy).

  15. 1. Wilderness will never be reset and the it is the area's within the yellow zone that where destined to be reset every now and then, not the area's out side of this. Players have portals in these area's.

    2. You never build a base of any kind in the wastelands and expect it to last. Wastelands is exactly what the title says a waste land, to be mined for resources only. If you get lost out there then use the live map for your server to find your way back.

    3. While I agree there is plenty of blocks yet to be mined in the wastelands the good ones are fewer and further away from spawn although if your talking dirt and stone well there is always plenty of that. :D

As for getting the good or most used blocks it can take 4 or 5 times longer to get the same quantity as it would do with a fresh world. The difficulty is that some new players will not venture out to far and the area close to spawn gets mined out the quickest.

    4. In my opinion probably the most important here to consider while we are all playing in the game is the million and one things Aikar has to deal with. He's busy tapping away with the code that improves things around the place, and while we would all like things done yesterday sadly we have to wait for some things for when he has the time to get to the bit we would like doing done.

I agree 1.8 could be a long time of and with Microsoft in the mix who know's what's in store in the months ahead, so a reset in the mean time would be great.

Also waste has been reset twice since 1.7 if memory serves me right. But my memory is not so great these days :p
  16. Does this mean we should start tearing down/retrieving our items we have in the Wasteland that we want to keep or should we wait for the formal notice ?
  17. Applauds to Finch, yay! Wastelands is pretty obliterated.
    Can't wait for dat reset!:D:p
  18. I'm going to start collecting mine.
  19. Well, Aikar has spoken.
Time to go get all those bones and bows out of my farm.
Do you think we can add more messages/weight to messages about not mining too close to the outposts? It's due for a reset, but I fear it will just return to its current state in no time.
The frontier never gets reset. This stuff just adds up for a much less pretty frontier. The wastelands aren't totally barren; you just have to wander a bit farther out.
  20. Well seems I'm not the only one who likes to have temporary structures/storage when I mine. Good thing everyone is active in the forums and already read this thread so nobody will lose anything...
