Haha, people always jump to the extremes on here for some reason. We are not getting rid of the economy. In fact we have things in future ideas to make it even better. We simply don't want to be an ONLY economy server. For those that have been here from the start, it's always been about town and the economy. Aikar is here now and bringing more FUN to those who aren't just about the town/economy. That doesn't mean we're completely throwing away what we already have. We will continue to expand and grow what we have as well as add awesome new things. We always add new things for people without rupees and supporter, but when we do add things for the other, it seems to upset you. Please understand that it's a balancing act and we want to keep everyone happy. One of the perks of being an EMC Supporter is (I feel like this is the 20th time I've said this, this year, haha) getting a few extra fun perks for being so kind as to helping keep EMC up for people who don't want to pay to play. I'm not 100% sure at this point what we could add to make you personally happy, as you seem to post this kind of thing with every update we do. However, we are seriously open to suggestions, so please don't hold back if there's something reasonable that we're missing that we haven't hit to catch your attention yet.
That's if you want to do that. Most people will use things like that for decorations or for fighthing. As you've seen so far, there are some awesome armor and weapon packages you can find with some of the rare drops. Nobody is forcing you to sell them. Use them as you wish.
I have to admit I would have preferred a WARNING.... instead of logging in to a pack of rabid dogs attacking me and not even knowing they existed.... That was not fun....
You misunderstand me, sir. I don't do auctions, don't even visit that subforum. If I landed a rare drop, to me it would be exactly that, a keepsake. I was pointing out that the mentality of EMC, as an economy server is such that many people simply look at something new and shiny with $r in their eyes, wondering how much it would go for. You know that as well as anyone, perhaps better - why else would it even be necessary to set rules regarding Head auctions? It's awesome and fun to be set upon by a pack of exploding nether wolves, with ghasts for artillery support? Without warning, mind you - everything in this update being a surprise! and all... Look ICC, I'm not trying to pick a fight here. I'm simply saying that some of the new features don't sit well with me, clearly I'm not alone, and I have proposed the suggestion that they be restricted to Wastelands so that at the very least, people who don't like your and Aikar's idea of what is "awesome and fun" don't have to be subjected to it.
Besides, you could have had an extra warning. We've been doing staff beta tests on these for a month now. Figure out your IRC and come in our room.
Well... I for one welcome our new survival overlords. It's just, if we could have had a warning on this, it would be great... Though... To be honest... I think this is about the dystopia server now that I think about it.... More mobs and loot... More battles and adventures.... More dying and slashing... But, what does it relate to?
So thanks for making me feel like I'm singled out. I dunno if that was your intent but I'll go ahead and do my best as to defend myself without getting myself in trouble. As far as I remember I have only posted against anything added when it only benefited supporter and seemed to yell "Hey screw you guys unless you fork over $20 a month". Flying for diamond in Utopia town was the first I remember. Then came the idea of 100 vault pages for Diamond and whoever got all 100 would get to use it in the wild. Nothing was ever said as far as what was going to happen. It just kind of died. Then was Endertopia 2.0 which IMO shouldn't have been posted publicly but in supporter only. Maybe I seem to have an issue with "everything" you guys release because the only things that ever seem to get high recognition are things that help out supporters while anything that benefits everyone gets a "Yay...ok moving on" type of recognition. Maybe also because I'm the only one trying to stand up for those who also feel this way and are too afraid to say anything. Maybe also because all that's ever in recent threads is auctions and we've asked if Auctions could be filtered out into their own thing.

Now see, this I could totally get behind! Throw all this chaos on a Dystopia server, unleash hell, call it nightmare mode for all you like. At least then I and others would have a choice to go there or not.
Yes, like I said, we have economy people and we don't want to get rid of them. We're just adding more variety. I understand you're not picking a fight and I don't see it as that. However, we also understand not everyone will be happy with what we do all the time, and most the time it's temporary. We get posts like this every update, simply because it's in our human nature sometimes to find things wrong with stuff for the sake of it. However, give it a week and I promise you everyone will be used to everything here as if it were normal. It ALWAYS happens that way. It'd be kind of like telling Mojang everytime they released a new boss or mob to make a separate world for it just incase you didn't want to see it. We need a Enderman only world. We'll need a horse only world. We need a Wither only world, etc. Of course they wouldn't do that because they know that shortly after release, they'll just become "normal" in the Minecraft world. What we do will be no different. Give it more than a day and everything will be fine.
