  1. Just make a hole in the wall wherever you want to come through. You can fill it back in or I will at some point. I want to make a few gates at some point. It will surprise no one to hear that I'm a little burned out of working on it right now...

  2. Pretty much anyone can join, but I would prefer it if people who want to join hang around for a while. We're had a bunch of people show up for a little while, build something, then disappear leaving us to maintain or tear down what they've built.
  3. I like the idea of making both bridges. :p

I think I'll look into that desert area that the blue line goos to, maybe set up a tent and mooshroom station. :p

  4. Why do rails require 3 blocks of space? I plan on making the bridge 17 blocks wide. The bridge must be relatively wide in order for the towers to look nice.

Each rail will be contained within a 3 block-wide space (the real bridge supports 4 lanes of traffic each way, but I made it 3 wide so the rail could be centered). Each walkway is 2 blocks wide, plus one block for the support cables. Cobblestone slabs separate the sections. Here is a mockup:

It looks kind of bare. I'm open to suggestions on how to make it look better (Jakres, Dwight :p). The bridge will also need lighting fixtures. I'm still working on the design for the towers, but here's what I have so far (each grid cell is 1 block):

The towers will be stone and the cables will be stone slabs (they are white like the cables). I'm only going to build 8 cables instead of 16 like in the real bridge because I think 16 would be too crowded.

There will be a maintenance walkway underneath the bridge for maintaining the redstone torches that power the powered rails. I want to use nether brick and nether fence because the color makes it look rusted-like. The powered blocks will be different from the rest of the bridge so you can easily tell where to put the powered rails. I'm thinking powered rails should be placed about every 20 blocks.

The bridge also needs to gradually slope upwards, like the real bridge does.

That would be really awesome. :D

I think something like this would be cool:

We could call it the Wintermoon Express. ;)

The desert would be a great place for it. :p

  5. A bridge that leads to LLO? That would make my life easier! And the name is awesome too, I would love to help :)
EDIT: I'll try and convince Cholo, my good friend, to help.

  6. Well, that's the minimum if you're going to have two rails. 2 blocks for the rails themselves, and 1 block between them.

BTW, I started replacing some of the redstone torches powering rails with redstone blocks. Hopefully they aren't a griefing magnet.

  9. PLEASE, don't give me ideas, or get my hopes up... I do have some plans for the west that i never got around to doing

  10. Maybe it can branch off the line I have going from the current west station? And it can have a stop at the stadium before continuing on.
I think penfoldex is doing something in the desert.

  11. I'm making a mooshroom station…and possibly a tent.

  12. ..wow..how long would that bridge take to build?

  13. The first bridge to the west took about 1-2 days. This, depending on how fast he can get materials, I'll say a week?

  14. I remember the building of the first bridge. Amazed how fast it was done…and Zulu was still around…

  15. Yeah there were some cool pictures of it. I remember, I went to check it out and when I was leaving the sun was rising, and shavingfoam said "mba walking off into the sunset" and zulu replied "erm, sunrise". Or it was the other way around. It was funny either way :p

  16. This bridge is a lot longer than the last one. The last took me about 2 days to build the towers and cables, but Zulu built the actual bridge :p. I dont know how long that took him. I estimate the following materials will be needed for the red line (which I am leaning towards building and which is slightly shorter)

    4-5 DCs of smooth stone
40 stacks of smooth stone slabs
    15 stacks of rails
    1 stack of powered rails
    1 stack of redstone torches
    10 stacks of nether brick
    2 stacks of nether fence
    30 stacks of cobblestone slabs
    1 stack of cobblestone
    20 stacks of iron fence

  17. It might sound strange (maybe, just maybe), but i have all the stone you might ever need...
But, this might use some of the blaze rods that Cake-guy got while trying to pass Leowaste
in the monthly-xp-board. Yes, that was back when the llo blazegrinders where still around...
Yes, we got THAT much rods...
