  1. Did they come in time to stop the Colorado shooting that killed people? No.
Did they come in time to stop the Connecticut shooting that killed innocent children? No.
  2. Glad to hear you're doing better, if not perfectly fine. You have my sympathies for what you've gone through.

Just wanted to say that my dog comment was only meant to extend to "if that's the only reason a person uses to get a dog." I think it would be terrible treating dogs like mere alarm clocks, only there reminding you to walk. This obviously isn't the case with you and your dog. :)

  3. Cordial_Pie is right. The police is mostly there to solve crimes after they happen. Sometimes they can stop crimes in progress, but they certainly don't stop crime from happening.
  4. What created the explosion, though?
If you say that the atoms did who created them
    That is why God exists.
Genesis 1:2 says: "Now the earth was formlessand empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of Godwas hoveringover the waters."
Then God spoke, and day and night was created. Then he spoke, and seperated land and sea, and so on and so forth until the earth was created.
The big bang theroy is just a confusing reason to how te earth was formed, in my opinion
  5. Explain how God got there…
It's just an endless cycle of impossible stuff. Paradoxes and what not.
  6. How do you people memorize these things? Are you brainwashed during sunday mornings?

EDIT: You actually are. Mass is the process of brainwashing your mind with religious thoughts...it's just...how do you MEMORIZE quotes from the Bible?
  7. God has always been, and always will be.
One of his names is the alpha and the omega, which means "The beginning and the end"

It takes years of bible studies and sunday schools, and listening to the pastor preach
  8. Okay then. Then what created god, or how did he get there?

  9. Refering to what i just said, God has always been, and always will be.
Also like i said, one of his many names is the Alpha and the Omega, or the beginning and the end.
  10. That doesn't answer the question though…
So he just exists? It's impossible to explain. That, or we humans are too stupid to figure it out. :p
Whatever, your belief is as good as whatever I can come up with.
  11. We ARE too stupid to understand God's power.
In the Bible, we are refered to as sheep. Sheep are VERY stupid. For example: If the Leader of a sheep pack walks off a cliff, the others will follow.
God's power is so beyond our understanding, that we have no idea how he can handle the world.
  12. THE PROCRASTINATING CHRISTIAN.
That would make a good book.
  13. What would i be putting off until later...?
  14. You said this:
So I just thought of a procrastinating christian...y'know, a lazy christian...
  15. I HAVE NOW DECIDED TO WRITE 2 SHORT-STORIES:
One on a procrastinating christian, and another on the present being a combo of the past and future. Both will be difficult to write...but this'll be entertaining. Very entertaining :3
  16. Now, I will admit, I am not that great as a Christian. However, I find it as a good way to live. In all truths, I don't actually do the more religious things as much as I do most of the common sense of it. Atheism would probably be my 2nd option, however, I make myself christian because it seems good as in restricting myself in doing/saying certain things. Honestly, all the atheists I have meet are rude and not really the nicest people. See if that helps anyone.
  17. You're making some very definite statements there. How do you know this? The Bible is just a book of stories, it has no authority more so than the Qu'ran or any other holy book (or Harry Potter for that matter) and, what do you know, these books all disagree with each other! You either happened to choose one (or be indoctrinated into believing one) and ignoring all the others, or declaring them false, on no valid grounds. This is not intellectual honesty.

You simply believe this to be true, but that's it. There's no reason for others to take your word for it.

See, there you go again, trying to use the bible as a reason to believe something. It's got no authority. If you read up on the history of the bible, it's fascinating what went into the making of that book. Forgeries, multiple edits across centuries, multiple times voting on what is canon and what is not, etc. The supposed word of god up for vote? Seems legit.

  18. Ya know, we actually have Bibles, we can just look stuff up, it's not like we've memorized the whole thing or anything :) There are actually online databases where you can do keyword searches of the entire Bible....its really useful.

  19. I don't get why you think that I would have had a better time without the Religion though? The last get together we had we all had steaks and tons of food. It was a couple hour get-together to have great food and just talk with others. Removing religion from that wouldn't have made it any better, as there was no bad time had.

  20. Personally, I believe that most people mis-interpret religions such as Christianity a lot, and can't see the wood from the trees. Surely the important messages from the bible are to be nice to each other, and to look after the planet? (interestingly we aren't doing very well at either of them)

Faith is important, but all Christians originate from Jews who didn't blindly follow precisely what their ancestors did, so I don't see why this is faith? Faith is doing what you believe, not necessarily what you're told/you read, in my opinion.
