  8. Going back to the original thread,

1 is due to the duplication-glitch. It's annoying, but we can't blame EMC - in fact, they've worked hard to eliminate the issue. I think, given more time, the price will settle down (or more likely, up!).

2 & 3 I totally agree; the profusion of younger immature players is off-putting. I have no idea how to communicate with a 7 year-old child; I do not wish to, and I'm not very comfortable in doing so either - because I do not think that EMC is an appropriate venue for them.

I asked mods about the age requirement the other day - because I noted the rules say you must be 13 to register - but I've been told that, as long as there is tacit permission from parent/guardian (ie, someone with a credit-card), younger players are permitted. I don't like that, but apparently that's the rules.

And before anyone complains at me for hating younger people - no; absolutely not. I welcome young players, as long as they can behave in a reasonably mature manner.

It's a bit like a public library; children are very welcome, as long as they don't run around screaming and yelling, disturbing the rest of us.

And I realise that some 12-year-olds are very mature - and indeed I know plenty of 20-somethings who are very immature. But, there has to be some cut-off, surely.

The excessive childishness is certainly putting me off EMC. It's a shame, because I meet so many lovely players - like the OP seems to be. I sometimes wonder if we'd be better with an "Adults only" server... I hope that wouldn't have the wrong connotations.

I also believe that, if the mods clamped-down more on the idiocy, then it would reduce. We don't have enough mods, and I know they work hard. But /report is often ineffective, because the reports are often not handled for many hours.

If people were politely-warned by mods more often - and if, when necessary, some were kicked out or banned for a short time - then I am sure that other players would start to behave better - because when they see others kicked for spamming/typing nonsense/swearing/insulting/general pain-in-the-chat - then others stop doing it too.

I asked about that same issue some weeks ago - and briefly, there were more/active mods on the server I'd asked about (SMP9) - but now, it is back to normal.

As I said before, /ignore is not the panacea claimed, because in order to have fun within the community, we need to be able to use the chat. We can't see what is going on when it's full of rubbish.

So please, EMC, could you try to reduce the volume of crap in town chat, by moderating it more actively?

  9. /ignore is the best moderation you need. I've said it before and I'll say it 10,000 more times when this comes up because people for some reason avoid /ignore like the plauge, lol.

You're asking us to remove people that annoy you. /ignore will do that.

I'll also state, that every report gets looked at in a timely fashion. Most companies brag by handling issues within 4-5 business days. We have all reports down and out within a few hours, and certainly no more than 24 hours. I know you wish we could do it INSTANTLY the second you wish, but that's not all the time possible or plausible. If you can find me another Minecraft server that does it better/faster than we do, PLEASE show it to me, because I know it doesn't exist.

There will never be a better answer than use /ignore if you don't think we handle things fast enough.

Also, there are times, where we will see reports and make a note in them for future reference. You won't ALWAYS see action on a report you made. Someone spamming a lot and no mods are available that second? The auto-spam protection will eventually get them...but until then, /ignore will remove the issue NOW for you.

  10. I have said it before, too; do you not understand what I said?

/ignore is not the solution, because the crap in the chat causes disruption for all players. If I ignore them, that's fine; but the people I'm trying to help out do not know how. And I can't even try to explain it, because the channel is full of crap.
  11. Everyone should know how to use /ignore. It's in our guide. Everyone should see the guide when doing the tutorial. If someone decides NOT to use the guide as directed and not know about /ignore, there's not much we can do. We give everyone the tools to make their experience the best it can be.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink, is the old saying, I think.
  12. Sometimes on WOW the /report function. It can take a minimum of 5-6 hours and often sometimes 1 to 2 days before you hear from a mod. These are paid professionals on a game that you have to pay to play. I would say the response time here is exceptional.

  13. It's nice to hear from people that some DO understand what it takes and what we do here is above the average. If we could all be superman 24/7 never eat/sleep mods, we would, but we're real people too. I will still defend tooth and nail that I feel we have the best setup for what we have here possible and no other server comes close. :)

  14. To Me these things only start to happen when servers are busy (that is why it was so peaceful when there was only the 3 servers it was so happy and peaceful :( )

But the tutorial should be harder :/

  15. The tutorial is as hard as we can make it. You have to literally know specific things about EMC to pass it. No matter how hard we make it, people will share answers with new friends and post answers on youtube/websites.

  16. though I know that the report is fast but on WOW there a millions of people playing. but trust me I have found a new server with almost the same ideas of EMC BUT its small and that is why its nice with a constant 30 people on all happy. BUT EMC is a big server you CANT get better than small ones because its to big to moderate like super man but on small servers you can moderate VERY easily but EMC is the best BIG server but I would no longer call it the best server :/
  17. I saw a suggestion where it could change the orders of the questions but I know that's hard to make
  18. Some people play for different reasons. To me EMC is the best by a million. I play games mainly for the social aspect, so the more people the better. The growing community we have is more of a passion to me than just a game community. I love it and wouldn't trade it for anything. :)

  19. Well, I don't play other multi-player games - and if they're full of kids screaming "YOU FAGGOT" and "I AM 7 CAN WE BBE FRIENDS" etc, then I'm glad I don't.

I've almost given up on SMP9; I'm spending most of my time on Utopia - where there are so few people, it's pretty much like playing single-player. And that's a shame, because I enjoy the community aspects - trying to run a nice shop, and trying to help each other out.

But if this is for kids, it just might not be the right place for me, I guess.

  20. fair point but I like quality not quantity and I know everyone does but you can only have Quality up to a point when it starts to lack but EMC is the best BIG server but in my eyes not the best server :/ the new players here love it here the older ones are loosing interest now, I Think
