Spawn Egg without NBT tags?

  1. Hi, it's me again!

I came across a chicken spawn egg somewhere that I figured I'd put in a chest with some other spawn eggs. However, it wouldn't stack with the rest! It turns out that all my other spawn eggs all say they have one NBT tag, and this one doesn't. What does this mean, and is it worth anything?

  2. To my knowlege, no nbt tags means it is originally bought from /shop, or spawned in by other means (senior staff.)

  3. The former seems likely! The shop world has been gone for a while, though, so it might be rare. That doesn't mean anyone's collecting them, though. :p

  4. Thank you for bringing this to light. Over the past couple days I discovered I had eggs that were also acting in the same manner. I just hadn't gotten around to seeing why yet. So thanks for that! :)

  5. With the 1.13 update, the spawn eggs are stored different internally. Whether they have the nbt tag or not - there is no functional difference - but likely makes them shop incompatible.
Could try to put in your /vault. Close. And then retrieve from your vault to see if it cleans it up.

  6. Ah, so it might be the new eggs that don't have the NBT tag, then! Can anyone test that? I would, but I'm going to have dinner right now. :p

  7. Tested that by eggeffying a chicken, and I can prove the hypothesis that mobs eggefied in the current version do not get an nbt tag, while older eggs all do have them. :)

  8. So if anything, eggs with the tag might become worth more. :D
