[Suggestion] Rupee rename, global chat and more

Discussion in 'Suggestion Box Archives' started by _REMOVED_87055, Jun 7, 2019.

  1. First off, so much this ^

Second, Senior Staff could start the process MONTHS in advance - start moving buildings and farms on to one SMP and keep doing so up until Wipe Day. No one should lose anything except for people who have been inactive for a long time. Would these (few) people be upset upon their return? Sure. Would it be worth it to save EMC? Yes.
  2. I like the merging town idea I like the global chat idea I kinda like the rupee rename idea but when I read the rupee rename I got hyped because I thought you meant "spend rupees to give yourself a nickname"

    WHAT IF:
[insert supporter rank here] could change their username using /nickname [name] and it could cost [insert rupee amount here]
    just saying...
    that'd be pretty lit.
jk this was a joke lol

  3. Okay just know this is my 2 cents here and I means everything I’m about to say is very doable. ( this also regards to the merging all amps.) why not just have town on stage? Now I’m not saying the current build. I’m saying a fancy building but with teleports that are the same like the frontier, waste, ect... and I’m positive the build team can make something quick and fancy for it! Also when a player comes out of the tutorial I’ve noticed that they spawn at town. Why not just have them spawn automatically at the res that they get assigned? This would simplify things and make it overall better so they aren’t confused as to how to get to their res.
  4. i like this idea. my thoughts on the smp merge is to have all the current residences in one big world and have spawn in a different world (or the same world far from the residences) so no one will have spawn residences as there will be arguments who gets the 4 (or 8) elusive spawn residences. Utopia can have its own server as it has mega plots and is a supporter server.

all the frontier worlds will be on 9 separate worlds which are all accessible with /frontier (smp number 1-9) and there can be 9 portals in the spawn to access each smps frontier which will be on a different world. The easy solution would be to reset the frontier but that wont be well received by most players.

Wastelands can be in 1 world just larger borders and more spawns so you can have the normal N, S, E, W, NE, NW, SE, SW but also SSW, SSE, etc.

i like originalscuf idea to have new players spawn on a empty / direclict residence with the usual signs and starter books to help them get started. could add more info to the signs on the res.
More players will also stay as alot of player who do join leave after 30 mins because their is 1-5 people each smp and not everyone can always help them/ they think "lol dead server" and leave

  5. Admins and Developers need to listen to this one. EMC needs to act on a lot of this before it's too late. As with some other posts though; not keen on the rupee name change.
  6. Is there a specific reason, if you do not mind me asking, that you don't particularly like the idea of the currency name change?

  7. I'm quite surprised that there are so many people who wouldn't only not mind, but would like the name of 'rupees' changed to something else, let alone 'dollars'. I think 'rupees' is the perfect name. I should be getting ready to go to the train station though, and not be browsing EMC, so I won't write an argumented post. :p
  8. Really? I was more surprised with the amount of people agreeing with the smp merging :p
  9. The new players never wind up in /town. The new players go through the tutorial and are automatically directed to their home residence.

  10. Haha, thanks. :D
  11. Rupees are the EMC Staple! I've never seen confusion in my 6 years on EMC, personally.
  12. I've had 2 people in the past week ask me about it which is why I included it in the suggestion.
  13. I'm not a fan of global chat as I've struggled way too often attempting to teleport to a location of a player in a different world. But merging couple worlds into one would make our community even more tight knit.

I dislike the idea of changing the name of our currency, it's been rupees from day one and without it EMC wouldn't feel the same.

  15. Rename Rupees to Pebbles...enough said...
  16. Heres an Idea:
Keep the same play.emc.gs link which takes us to a "lobby" From there a new "smp" will pop up, the name of it isn't important. It would allow us to "merge" into one SMP while keeping our legacy smp's. If we chose to move from a legacy smp to a "main" smp, our legacy one is removed. We would still have access to the frontiers and such.

Basically the option to claim a res on the legacy servers would be locked. However, frontier building and such may still be done.

    Procedure to make this happen
    1. Vote on if this is the way things should go
    2. if the vote passes, put up a notice that each open smp res is no longer claimable after x date.
    3. Before x date, open a new "main" smp. All new users can still join as if nothing has happened.
    4. Slowly over time we accept that the legacy servers are disappearing.
  17. Idk how to shorten the quote, so sorry for that.
I like your idea about "stitching" all the smp towns together into one big map, I think as a solution to the "spawn res" issue, If we did take 9 smp towns and stitch them together it would be pretty massive, and just like the massive wild we could have "North, East, South, and West" spawn points so that their would be more spawn residences orrrrr

since their would be 9 smps that gotten stitched together and since some servers have very special residences like the mini games, the pvp arena, the hogwarts thing. I think it would be a really nice idea if they were stitched together into one map that we could have different "towns" or "cities" that would all be different themed or some kind of difference in the building of the streets and things to keep some kind of separation and respect to the old Smps.

Like you said, I realize that this is highly unlikely or somewhat possible in the far future, obviously this would take more than just combining the towns, alot of planning would have to go into this, just thought i would share my ideals :)

  18. Just fyi, Global chat was already planned before this thread was made, but we didn't want to announce until we had a better idea of working out the kinks. Still doing that, alongside the 1.14 update, fyi. So I guess spoiler alert ;)
  19. We did it boys, we can predict the future :p
  20. You're thinking of it like it's just 1/3 of what it is now when it's not going to be like that at all. You are taking every single res and putting it on 1 map. Now every single res that had any kind of lag, is all together instead of spread out on different machines.

This is just silly and has nothing to do with any current issues. So is it spawn res owners that are the cause of less player activity? Is it their fault that the smps are spread too thin now? Having a spawn res or not is irrelevant to the issues here. And why should they want to give them up? Some of these builds took years and/or millions of resources to create.

I don't know what the right direction is to fix this but I know one thing from experience. Moving res' are not just as simple as cut and paste to another spot. I've had one my plot moved to another res, rotated, etc. Certain things don't move well. Remote shop signs for one. They get broken if they are not removed before the move. They are then changed to normal signs. Redstone as well can be an issue. I'm sure there can and would be many more issues that would just complicate things. This could end up causing way more issues then what it was intended to fix.

It took me over a year to build one of my res'. I certainly do not want to have to redo all my shop signs, redstone, etc. If this is a plan to fix things, what about those people that might get annoyed by this change and they decide to leave? I'm not for or against any of these ideas. I just think we need other ideas with far less significant changes.
