Rules Updates: August 11, 2018

  1. Accepting every single change without question is a recipe for unhappiness.
  2. Well I'm just fed up with this. Not everyone is gonna agree on one things. But just fighting more and more about it makes people like me want to leave more and more.
  3. Well worded

  5. She's telling you to not be complacent. It's not anything about you, it's about the attitude displayed in that post. If you apply it to the wider context of life it means you question nothing and accept what you're being told no matter what for the sake of 'not bickering'.

Bit of a stretch to go to against the backdrop of Minecraft like, but a fair point all the same.
  6. Why thank you :)

  7. Ok, agrees.
Ok, sorry I was so rude. It's been a long day.

  8. It's fine. Been a long day for all of us lol
  9. No no you weren't rude! I can see why you'd take that the way you did - long day, like you said, and also this thread is weirdly heated. Nobody had responded to you yet and let you know why you were, for lack of a better word, 'wrong' to respond that way - I just take about 500 minutes wording stuff so obviously by the time I've posted it looks like I'm joining in on a pile on against you.

Anyway this is off topic lol, I'm unwatching.
  10. I completely agree that you should never just accept something because some told you so. Such thought process hinders thought development. However, you must also be willing to open your mind to new ideas and accept changes. Don't do so blindly, but be willing to explore possibilities and you will be better for it.

This is all I'm asking from the community. Give the changes a chance to prove useful. Be open to the possibility that we could be right, just as we are open to the possibility that we may be wrong. Only time will tell and we'll make adjustments once we have the data we need.
  11. It's harder to give them a chance when they remove the only way that allows you to regularly participate in auctions. (Bumping, advertising, etc.)

As much as the "novelty" of single dirt auctions may wear off with time, in the meantime they, combined with the other changes, make the auctions useless for people who don't have time to check the auctions every few hours.

  12. Most auctions end 24, 48, or 72 hours after last valid bid. That's 1-3 days, not hours, that you'd need to check the auctions section.

  13. Which would be less of a chore if there weren't over a double chest of single block auctions.
  14. It's barely 3 pages, and they are searchable. You'll learn to use the tools available in time. It just takes some adjustment.

  15. I'm not sure, if I haven't been able to figure it out in 6 years, any adjustment period is going to help.

Either way, there shouldn't be people auctions for 1 dirt. That's silly as all hell.
  16. And they'll learn that when no one bids. If someone bids, then it's not silly. Dirt is basically worthless. Any gained money is due to the excitement of the auction.
    Luckygreenbird and FadedMartian like this.
  17. Can we make a thread of all current auctions and update it daily? Or is that the same as advertising?

Edit: - and not bump it?

  18. I just want to know how staff is going to enforce this. Are you blacklisting people for bumping? Are you interfering and saying, "Hey, you aren't allowed to bump!" or are you closing down the thread? Let me know please, I don't want to be in trouble for bumping an auction thread!
    FunWart and FadedMartian like this.
  19. Given the fact that there will be some people who are not aware of the recent rules change, we are sending short PM's to the OP's who bump a thread such as this:

    "Hey there!

I just wanted to inform you that starting today, there is an Auction rule change that no longer allows bumping of auction threads. You're not in trouble, though. We are taking the next few weeks to inform people as needed on these changes.

See this thread for details: https://empireminecraft.com/threads/rules-updates-august-11-2018.77914/

In the meantime, I have deleted your bump. Good luck and have fun!"

After the grace period is over, people should be well aware of the rules change, and know not to bump auctions. Action could be taken at that time.
  20. Legit question, I am curious as well.
