  1. So the farlands were removed in 1.8, but emc's wilderness doesnt update so they should still be there right? With the new elytra fireworks getting there is much more possible especially with use of the nether. Does emc change how 1 nether block = 3 overworld blocks? Did justin tp to the farlands and just worldedit them away when he made the wild? Is the world barrier closer?

  2. I don't think the farlands had been generated yet when they got removed, so they won't exist.

  3. The wild was gened in 1.3 anything outside would have been from player passing.
  4. short awnser: no. The world is currently in 1.11.2 so all new terrain generated is generated in this version, regardless of what the original verson was. the only thing the same is the seed being used to generate that terrain, as it is still the "same" world. That is why you will see really wacky chunk errors near the overworld spawns in places that have been explored in version 1.3/6, then later explored in versions 1.8+. And no players have loaded chunks, or have even been out more than 1 million blocks prior to 1.8, so there would not have been any far-lands terrain ever generated naturally into any of the 10 worlds.
To the second thing, the nether is scaled 1 block in the nether = 8 overworld blocks, not 3. don't know how you came to that conclusion unless it was a typo.
As I said in the first paragraph, nobody has gone out that far in the versions before it was patched, so It wont exist on any of the emc worlds. Also the world border was set at <1.000,000 blocks for some time and the far-lands genned at ~16 million if i recall, so again, nobody has ever gone out that far and the far-lands do not exist on emc.

  5. They generated at 12mil, and who knows maybe someoen dared to go there useing glitches/insane god horses after the border was expanded
  6. A fast way to find out is to look on the map for wild and nether...
  7. The far lands were removed from Minecraft in Beta 1.8. The current worlds (with the exception of the town world) were generated in 1.2, so the far lands won't exist on any server.

  8. *facepalm* i thought it was is release 1.8 ;-;
  9. aww thad be COOL! :O
  10. They may be no farlands, but there is a border if a I recall. They aren't kidding about wacky chunks either. Last summer I made an attempt to travel to the unloaded areas of EMC's frontier, doing a thread about it too. While I was heading there, lots of weird geography was around. My favorite was the mountain made entirely out of smooth stone that rose a good 100 or blocks above sea level and was cut in half.

  12. Isn't that the ratio in console versions? At least older ones, eg ps3/xbox 360?
  13. I read the wiki, and in the console you have the choice of 1/3, 1/6, or 1/8 depending on world size you choose, but EMC is on the pc version, which has always been 1/8 scale of nether to overworld.

  14. Pretty positive that no one had got that far in the time that this existed so they aren't there.
  15. And in addition: this only affects the Frontier. In the Wastelands the ratio between nether & overworld is 1:1 (which Aya and me have yet to test... hmm, maybe now would be a good time).

  16. Yes test it and make a thread i wants to be given knowladge!!1!1!1!
  17. Isnt there a plugin that generates them? I would love to get there and explore on emc!
  18. So yeah, AyanamiKun & me "did something", about time this got busted

From the wiki page on vanilla changes:
For a while I believed this claim because if there's one thing I know about Minecraft it's that this game is so utterly extensive and flexible... It's plain out amazing what you can do with it. So just because you can't imagine something to be possible doesn't always mean it's also not true. And you got to admit that Aikar and the dev. team have cooked up some cool magic in the past.

However... This claim is plain out nonsense.

I started to grow my suspicions so Aya & me decided to put this to the test. We went to my home server of SMP2 and went into the Wild West :D So: /waste w vs. /wnether w.

First our start, I spoiler'ed this to reduce unneeded loading time (but included it for those like me who care for these details):

    My starting point

    Aya's starting point

Notice how the coordinates are pretty much the same (apart from the height (y))?

So then we build this in the Nether:

    Haya! :D

Aya enters the portal, note the coordinates!

SO yeah.... if this is supposed to be 1:1 how do you explain this:

The Matrix quote was obviously my idea ;)

In fact, we decided to do a little more work and sort out completely. Notice the diorite path up there? That was made for a reason. Here we remade the exact same path but this time in the overworld:

Notice Aya up there? We build the exact same diorite path (same length) which leads to the outpost stairs in the nether. But in the Overworld we needed a lot more; so we added polished granite until we finally reached the protected area, that's where Aya is standing here.

So, uhm, 1:1 distance in the waste? I think not ;)

  19. To the left
  20. But you went to the wild west not the waste west and in the wild they said its 1/8 still
