I recently got dirt removed from 4 of my res. And I asked to get the dirt between res to be deleted. I also wanted to make a 4 res big chestroom. Which I thinked about that it would be painfull to make the underground building and then getting it pasted. Isn't the only reason of not being able to build on a road is so the road are empty? So my idea is basicly that if you have 2 res next to each others, it would give you access to build under the road. Kinda like the way you can build over 128.
It would be way too much work to allow players to build under the town road. The whole town would need to be redone, so that means residences would need to be set up again. I don't remember who said it, but it's in a thread somewhere. That was a response I got from krysyyjane9191 (I think; or it was RainbowChin). EDIT: or maybe Aikar told me that or IcecreamCow
Roads are not a residence, and would not work as they would have to make each one by hand, and then it could cause issues later on...
This was sort of suggested and denied before https://empireminecraft.com/threads...ability-to-work-on-your-own-road-edits.54798/ I doubt this suggestion will be approved, just seems too complicated to implement. Road edits are also a good rupee dump, which is good for the economy.
If they are capable of doing it in the sky why aren't they able to do it underground? I am pretty sure that there is some easier way to do this than created a ton of residence. The ide is not the same at all, his idea was based about giving access to the complete road for a number of time, mine is not that at all.
The roads are part of a big residence called "town" (all the roads are 1 res). They range from y=0 to y=128. When we got the new build limit, the "town" residence was not updated, only the actual residences, so when you go above y=128 you are actually leaving the road, which is how you can build above that height. That's actually a bug that ended up becoming a feature. To make it possible for players to build below the roads, Senior Staff would have to set up the road as part of the residence touching it for every single residence on EMC, reason why this likely won't happen. And no, there is no other way to do this. The "easier" way would be to set up an awesome macro to do it automatically, but from experience I can tell you that SS+ tend to avoid macros for this type of thing, as it has a chance of becoming a huge mess (the new outer res rings were all hand made using //paste, selections and some commands, 1 by 1, for example) (I'm talking from experience, but I could be wrong; never looked into/asked about the exact coding stuffs that goes on)
The easiest way to do it would be to range town from y=64 to y=128 so you would leave the road when you will be under y=64.
+1 It sounds like an interesting idea, and as long as we're talking under the road and between owned residences then this should be able to work. Although I can see the caveat with the roads being one huge residence the concept as a whole sounds doable. Now, bear with me that I'm only looking at worldedit/worldguard features here (which I think are also being used on EMC to some degree) and with worldguard it is possible to set up child regions which can overrule specific permissions of the parent (in either way; allow or deny). I could imagine that this isn't easily automated, but if it is doable to set something like this up then perhaps it could be made into a SS service of its own: players requesting "down road" editing permissions. Of course, that's assuming a lot on my end
Seems like an awesome idea in my opinion. I do think we should make it to a lower y though because otherwise you cut it really close to the road, perhaps 55? +1 from me tho. I also second every response Rex made because I was going to make the same exact response to each comment then saw he made it already.
Residences expand up in the sky. If this suggestion was accepted, all of the town worlds and every residence would need to be set again manually (it would probably be done after Dragon Tombs).
There is one thing I still do not understand, the comunity goal over here is not to juge if it is to hard to develop, it is to say if yes or no you think this idea is good or if it should be implemented to EMC. The part of juging if it is to hard will be for Developers
Here is a similar thread i made a while back, and you can see Just_five_fun's response to the roads.... https://empireminecraft.com/threads/suggestion-own-town-roads-if-you-own-ress-around-it.42918/
