Are we in trouble if we get stuck with our Elytra's?

  1. Hi gang,

Some of you guys will now say: "here he goes again". Fair point. But really... Doesn't this bother any of you Elytra lovers out there? Because I can honestly say: it does bother me.

It also bothers me that the exact same moderator who banned a player for illegal mods (while the player in question said that they got stuck in a glitch) is the same mod who blocked a thread which questioned the reasoning behind it.

Yes, I made a doodoo. My apologies to The Boulder. I still stand behind my words though. Just blocking a discussion about the whole thing doesn't solve anything and leaves plenty of players with more worries than answers.

No, I am not seeing a chance to batter on EMC staff. I am a player who also played with his elytra, and who ALSO got stuck in the middle of a residence which had the move flag turned off. And due to lag I got stuck right in the middle and was spammed with warnings because I got stuck and the system didn't move me because it didn't find a suitable location. Trust me: I play vanilla.

What are the chances of me being banned because of this next? THAT is going through my mind right now, especially because we obviously aren't allowed to discuss this.
  2. That thread was closed because it was technically an open ban dispute thread. Also, I think staff members keep recordings of players doing something illegal (or maybe that was only Maxarias).

It would be highly unlikely that you would get banned due to what the server thinks you're doing. Note that NuclearBobomb was gliding without an elytra, but he is not banned, so the glitch wouldn't get you banned (as long as you don't abuse it or anything).

It has to be obvious that you're using illegal mods to even get banned for that reason.

  3. As I said in the other thread, for goodness sakes someone get me a name in a pm. If it's who I think it was, it's not even the same staff member. Of course I can only assume things until I get some actual info.

  6. I know if you jump from a high place onto a move flag Res, you glitch out and the system kicks you with the hack/lag message. You're so far in the Res, I guess the move flag only searches a few blocks to move you back to. So when it can't find a move true block, it loops causing lag and the system notices the lag. Or that's what I guess what goes on in the situation I described.

  7. yeah, this happens to me all the time.
  8. The very specific bug has been reproduced for my viewing by some helpful players. I'm going back through our logs of all illegal mod bans to determine if anyone was falsely banned due to this issue. The issue is not being stuck in the ground. It's the super jump and floating motion that occurs after being glitched. It is VERY hacky looking to someone that isn't aware of it. Good news is that we have videos of each ban, so all I have to do is watch the video to see if it was identical to the glitch I was shown. Off to review the last 2 weeks worth...

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread. Not because I'm hiding anything, but because my investigation is complete and we're taking actions necessary to fix any wrong bans. Now, considering that this was a glitch, in the future please just contact me in a pm and tell me that there is a glitch, then show me the part that looks like something we'd actually ban for. Would go a lot easier and get a result a lot faster.

  9. Credit where credit's due: I was wrong with my comments on The Boulder. As such: Sorry Boulder, I jumped to conclusions right there, no excuses.

When I'm wrong, I'm wrong and I live up to it.
