smp7 - jungle outpost

  1. Talk to Leopard about it. I think it should be fine if it's just a couple of houses.
  2. Thanks
  3. I have but one regret......I didn't take a single screenshot of my journey. ;D

In the last couple weeks, Philo has wandered. Not far by Minecraft measures, but far enough for me, one who is not accustomed to distant travel. To illustrate just how big of a deal this is for me, my smp7 avatar has not been to town since I moved out to the wilderness. That was right about three years(IRL) ago. My smp7 avatar has now literally been to town TWICE in THREE YEARS. So what led to the second trip? It all started out with a diamond mining expedition...

A couple weeks ago, I came to the realization that, among the dozen or so locked chests I have scattered about smp7's frontier wilderness, I had only TWO diamonds left in my possession. This would not do. So I set off for the ancient village of Neko No Mura (I have a small hideout near there) to dig in what I hoped would be some virgin rock. I set off eastward at 12 metres above the mantle and was soon pleasantly surprised by two diamonds a short distance away! Encouraged by the quick find, I continued eastward, hoping to run into another small clump of the glittering crystals, but soon lost steam, as I was not running into much of anything, save for some nasty lava pools. Eventually, I did run into a couple long tunnels, and came to a halt under a mountain that I had spotted on the live map.....er, 'arcane cartographic artifact'. I had an idea to build a dwarven style fortress/city into the mountain, and began work on that project, however, in light of subsequent developments, I may not get back to finishing that any time soon. Anyway, I did spend about a week or so there--establishing another base, beginning work on another large solo project, shaving one side of a mountain off, and planting a small forest on a mountain ridge--when once again I was struck with an acute case of Kender-esque wanderlust. I was walking along the ridge nearby contemplating where I wanted to put more trees, when a couple blocks of red wool and a trapdoor caught my eye. Me, being the hopeless explorer I am, decided to have a look. Down the ladder under the trapdoor, I found the end of a rail line. Yes, I took a minecart out of the chest and shoved off down the tracks, expecting a typically short journey to the next station. About 5 minutes later I realized how wrong I was. This is by far the longest continuous cart ride I've ever been on since I downloaded Minecraft Alpha so many years ago. It JUST....KEPT....GOING..... Mesmerized by the long, straight path and the droning rumble of the wheels on the tracks, I completely missed my only opportunity mid-trip to potentially stop, as the cart spiraled up a bit and slowed at what appeared to be a station, but with no stop, my cart quickly passed through and I found myself plunging back down to about 30m above mantle for another couple minutes which seemed like another eternity. The great Herobrine must have been watching over me, however, as this track finally came to a terminus at the bottom of some wooden stairs. Checking the cartographer's stone revealed that I was just below what appeared to be a small city. At this point, I was exhausted, so I crawled into the bed I found at the top of the stairs, and closed my eyes for a while.

When I awoke, I took a look outside to find that it was still dark. How long had I been out? Hours? Days? Weeks? As I was gaining my bearings, I felt a sharp sting in my ribs, followed soon by another. Ahhh! Spinning around, my vision revealed the source of the sting, and I pulled my own Lucky Bow out to draw a bead on the mosquito-like nuisance that is a Skelly. One arrow driven expertly into the left eye socket immediately rendered the pest into some nice garden fertilizer, which I used to grow some more trees. Having several genes from the Felix family in my own DNA, I naturally went off exploring the town, finding it ghostly, abandoned, and very run down, almost as if those creepy green quadrupeds were the only inhabitants. Boy was I wrong! The smell of sulfur and rotten apples (and the shattered glass against the back of my head) was the unmistakeable sign that a witch did indeed live there. Choking on the poison, I scrambled back toward the rail station, or so I thought, as I had become completely turned around in my stunned state. Clinging to life, I walked right into another skeleton and watched my guts (and all the stuff in my backpack) go spilling onto the grass. Thank Herobrine I had slept close by. I did get all my things gathered back together, but not without a good chase. I made it back to the station and wisely decided to wait until the sun was up before doing any more wandering. When the light finally burned up the undead (and somehow has a strange calming effect on arachnids), I took a look at more of the town, and eventually came across a sign that told me I was in the legendary city of "Free Haven".

About this same time, I got a message from a cousin who lives in town on smp3. He wrote about this crazy little village through a portal where there were chests filled with the most insane loot you could imagine, all just lying around for everyone to take. He took all he could carry and went back to his residence. Looking around at his nice little garden and cabin, he decided that he didn't want all of that stuff, and wanted to give it to someone who could put it to better use. Of course I could use it, but the only problem is that I live far out into the wilderness, and the package service will only deliver to addresses in town. Taking a look at the cartographer's stone again, I realized that I was closer to town than I've been since I left, so I made the tough decision to brave the last few hundred metres and head into town to pick up the package.

It was nice to see the changes since I had been there last. I marveled at the grand scale of the Empire Store. Mighty impressive to say the least. I took a look at a few fellow member residences and got a few ideas for builds of my own. Having picked up my package, I began to long for home, so I set off westward this time, back to my TRUE home, Last Light Outpost.

The journey back was much easier and MUCH shorter, albeit longer in distance. Rather than hop off the overhead path south of Free Haven and wind my way back through the underground, I continued on the overhead until it eventually turned north, and ended at btribble's Great Wall. Having walked the Million Step Path of the wall before, the rest of the way was quiet and meditative. I followed it north and back slightly east until I came to the East Watch tower, took the path down to Neko No Mura, and from there a short walk back to my new house just east of Philo Tower II. I quickly unloaded my pack, neatly distributing my new loot into their respective chests, and crashed onto the bed, thankful to have made it back alive and with everything intact. I'm thinking the next time I make a journey that far away from home again, it will be when EMC finally updates to 1.8 and I can fill in the black spaces on the cartographer's stone.

Now to figure what to do with a stack and a half of diamonds. I think I'll finally craft my first diamond armor set. ;D

    Happy travels!!!
    ;D

  4. Did you go to the /event whilst you were there?
  5. Yes. I have my residence on smp3, but rarely ever do anything there. I spend the majority of my time around the LLO on smp7. I had done the loot event with my smp3 avatar intending to just ender chest it over, but realized too late that the ender chests are server specific, so I had to use the vault transfer option, which led to the smp7 trip to town. If not for that event, I probably would have just stayed out there. I must say that the trip was much more pleasant than when I had ventured out. When I left town three years ago, it was almost a full MC day journey just to get through the wasteland that surrounded the spawn area. Now there was a nice, albeit completely griefed, city to greet me on the western shore. ;D

  6. Ah, I remember when this Outpost was first started. I remember how worried we all got when there was a possibility of the wild getting reset, before the Wastelands were added. I remember being an ambassador for the LLO on another Outpost, I remember running my club, selling fine wine and spirits, all the mining trips, the stories I wrote, all the friends and the good times, I remember it all so fondly.

Now, here I am, over three years later :D Still living in my same tree-house, still hoarding like a maniac.

LLO (As far as I know) was one of the first major Wild Outposts and in my opinion, three years later, still the best and most beautiful <3
  7. Could I take the top floor in the "Edge Industrial Market"?
  8. where is that
  9. Well, as far as I know, sunny owns it. Ask him (Knowing him, he'll say no).
  10. Hi Penfoldex and LLO,

finally there is a friends section in the Carthaga opening post and we included LLO :) Check it out here. Hope you like it.

  11. Hey, welcome back! Again. Yeah. :D

    Thanks Kai!

Should we look to include a similar section in our OP, LLOians?
  12. I second this :p
  13. So, just an FYI to the LLO community, the Philovanrood original book, "A Spring Journey" is available for checkout at the Philo S. Stone Public Library and can be found in the alphabetized section on the 3rd floor. If you bring your own blank book, you are free to make copies of ANY of the volumes found in the library. The selection is rather limited at the moment, but I am hoping that will change in the near future. Donations are welcome, just let me know so I can make a copy for the secure archive.
  14. Day 68.

    Err, um...
Have Pixel reality + Custom Clouds + Sildurs vibrant shaders extreme screenshots around random places in LLO instead! k?
  15. Are we having a meeting tonight
  16. Can't make it. You can host one.

  17. If you don't mind me asking, what versions of each part are you using? i.e.; forge, optifine, glsl, etc... I've been trying to get these darn shaders working for a long time and haven't been able to. I just tried again....no dice. I think the problem is that every site is giving me different installation instructions, or just really vague instructions, and none of them have worked. I just don't know what's correct. Blech.....
  18. Btw the fifth pic is my build atm
  19. I just installed 1.8 Forge and then I placed the shaders .jar file into the mods folder.
  20. are you allowed that in empire and is it hard to download forge 1.8
