As most of you are aware the site was down for over 30 hours this weekend. It was the result of a spineless DDoS attack. For those not familiar it is basically a malicious internet attack that throws so much data at a website that it denies service to everyone. We do not know (or care) who it was that had the means and drive to attack us this way. It's just sad that people can’t use time for more productive things. None of the game servers were down, we did not lose any data, and there was no security breach. Some supporters have asked if their credit cards were safe. We do not store any credit cards, it's all on PayPal. Even if you use your Minecraft password on the site it can never be stolen, as we only store a salted hash, even I couldn’t retrieve your password if I wanted to. The good news is that we are back and the community is still in full swing! We have both changed hosts and brought on a leading DDoS mitigation service that is going to provide us 500Gb/s of protection (this attack peaked at 4Gb/s). Even though this was out of our control I apologize for the trouble. Thanks for the patience everyone!
First time i see justin type a bad word. (you got what i mean) Congratulations Justin, thanks, thanks and tnx! Hope this never happens again and that this new hoster can work as it should (for you and us!) *applause* Btw: we still need to make a party, and record it HD, what time ISmooch & TonicThunder?
I felt it best expressed my anger yet the happiness that it is all over. Like I said I have been up for a LONG time haha
Just make the call and the empire will bring a huge hammer over whoever did this. I've got my friends you know...
And thanks to Justin (one of the best two Minecraft server admins in the world [assuming he is in our world]) for fixing the website.
I wanna know who it is so I can get one of my friends to hardcode "They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard" looped into their homepage.. :3
