heh couldn't tell you - depends how they are killed - potion vs loot sword vs drop but i ave like a stack of gold blocks every 3 hours or so if i use the sword alot
We had to cripple Pigmentus so it couldn't lag out the server again, but there is a tutorial on the full version of it in the emc blog. Use responsibly so no one hunts me down and kills me please. It is an active XP farm and runs off aggro, so it is NOT an afk style farm at all. If you go to visit Pigmentus, don't AFK there please. It is one of the public wild utilities on smp8 from Wild N (emc.gs/t/53627/#post-964163). There is a rail line, a road for horse, or boat next to the road. You can use a voter's sword or the bazillion gold swords it produces. Cheers
I think it might have to be majority damage done to the mob. As in if it's killed mostly by fall damage I don't think you'll get one? An idea would be to have them get to one spot safely then instant harming II.
Dif 7, looting 3 and doing 100% of the damage to the pigmen myself. Voting swords are highly recommended.
A couple notes on emc pigmen spawns: After 18 blocks, they move very very slow on their own. I suspect they completely freeze after 32. Pigmen spawn from portals over 32 blocks away. I suspect up to 100ish. Pigmen will despawn if over 64 blocks square from the chunk you are standing in for 15 seconds. I dont believe pigmen will pick up agro from over 18 blocks away(untested). Pigmen seem to only grab group agro if a pig in range goes agro. They don't seem to join in to already agroed pigs if they spawn after. Many of the giant pig farms won't function well in emc without some modifications (adding a cart track to get within 18 blocks is a common fix)
If you're talking about portal based farms then yes I agree. Mine uses a pressure plate + piston design. They don't need to move, they get moved
A whole team of people built this, not just me. There's a giant thank you post on it in the smp8 Public Wild Utilities. I'm just the lunatic ChrisFlareon did the Pigmentus statue. AverageWalrus and a slew of other folks did the "shell" around it. Another whole team did the redstone. Another team did the decor. Another did the roads, etc. There were A LOT of people who helped to build this!
I made my gold Farm with connecting portals but instead i decided to agro the pigment and they spawn/kill a hell of a lot faster from a 6 hour AFK i get around 4 stacks of blocks its only halfway done though...... =P Plus i need ALOT more obsidian
I am currently making my stackable one without the portal on/off buttons, originally it was so it could double as a dark room, 40 portals per layer, should be about 200 portals when done and then i'm going to try and incorporate a Dark room spawner in the 4 corners, i'll be using water dispensers instead of the top to bottom approach shown, to reduce the time that water is covering packed ice. I decided to post 1 pic and then link to an album with more details for all who are interested in the details. Album http://imgur.com/a/NHn17 so far it has 4 dc's of packed ice into that 1 side, and about 2 dc's into the portals so far (if i recall correctly) and it only has 60 portals so far (1.5 layers) and produces well, not sure how the battle for entity count will fare, but I may add the on/off again to adjust the mob flow. I also plan to add mob sorters and clear the deep ocean to replace with a squid farm using lava (yes squid spawn in lava, then they fall and die faster.)
there is a better way to do that same thing, but uses string and tripwire instead of redstone and pressure plates, if your interested... I'll post my nether gold farm that uses it and i have darkroom that uses it as well. not that yours is bad, but string is cheaper and less laggy than redstone, and you will never hear me badmouth redstone like that again, if that means anything, but redstone ftw, gg, i made mine in a lava lake to reduce spawning elsewhere, but it's hard to tell how cool your farm is with just 1 pic, but still awesome.
Ya it's hard to take a good picture of because of its size but I will try to get some better ones. I also built this over a massive lava lake. Of the 64 radius square I'd say 5% of it is not lava so lucked out there. Mine if half built (ran out of materials xD) but I still have half the place yet to build out. Would be interested in your method for sure
