Keto is good! Usually to produce ketones you need to be no carbs for around 2-3 months if you want to join me with perm keto!
2-3 months? We must be talking about something different. I have a friend who takes about 6 days to start producing ketones and he's on the high side. I'm lucky to have a pretty great metabolism - so make it into ketosis within a day of fasting/no carbs. I'm not micromanaging how far into ketosis I am - so I use the urine strips to test daily (I also don't like pricking my finger). That being said - no carbs is pretty outright dangerous. 20g per day of carbs is the recommended, even on keto. If you're eating 0 net carbs, you're likely not eating any vegetables and nutritionally starving yourself. Man, it took me a while to get onto ketosis and I don't eat carbs other that net (Yes moose, I eat veggies) I used to do prick, but now I use urine. I agree with pretty much what you are saying though.
