Well i HAVE been wondering from you guys, what was your VERY FIRST thoughts about EMC My example (and yes this is it) i first thought that mods (JD mah boi, Seffy~chan or Brezzyboi) had MINECRAFT MODS so i tried to get a mod downloaded (i dont remember what mod) and it did not work, on my like, 60th day i found out they were mods *Cough Cough credit to my brain Cought Cough*
EMC's original tutorial was a maze. If you took the path with the wrong answer, you end up at a dead end and must backtrace to the question and find the correct one.
"Where's the area that explains how to play multiplayer?" My first ever time connecting to a server. I was hoping there's was some info on how chat, controls, and the like worked. big time noob
same, i was a nub too (i started off on this server) i thought this was a PVP minigames server, well, 1/10 for the PVP arenas
I think you're mistaking the old with the current tutorial. In the currect tutorial, you step on pressure plates to give answer to the questions, in the old tutorial you had to choose from a few corridors to give your answer. If you answered correctly, you ended up in the next room. If you didn't, you world meet a dead end. That's as far as my knowledge goes for the old tutorial, because I've never been there EDIT: As for my first thoughts: I have no idea
First thoughts were, wow I get all these starter items and a place to build where no-one can infiltrate or destroy it.
I looked over to the res next to mine and thought, that's an awesome lighthouse! It is still there about 4 years later (check it out) even though it has been remodeled. I think the owner's name is Tesmik but used to go by AmmyDog.
I really wouldn't know. I didn't really have anything to expect either. I remember thinking that EroseYT (back then erosego) was a staff member, but other than that...
Keep in mind I joined back in February 2012. I did the same tutorial as Unoski, which you said in your last post you shared a hatred of said tutorial with (although since you joined March of this year I'm having my doubts you ever stepped foot in it). The build team wouldn't even come into existence for another almost three years. Saying that, I do in fact dislike the current one too, but never mind - I'll never have to do the tutorial again anyway.
It's been a while but I remember being quite impressed with the tutorial because it gave me a very good heads up on what to expect from EMC. I even decided to continue reading in the /training section of the tutorial. First thoughts... Hmm, "wow, that's a large plot!". Definitely something like that. You see, on my previous server the maximum area for a town was approx. 500x500. I was co -owner/founder of a town with 30 or so people living in it, we even managed to take the top spot of the whole server at some point, peeking at (I believe) 38 - 42 players. Just so we're clear: we're not talking 40 players playing at the same time, but in total 40 players who had their plots in our town and were registered as living there. But 40 players in a 500x500 area, plus areas which were town property (you needed certain town buildings in order to advance)... I think you can well imagine that we couldn't do 60x60 I think the largest plots were approx. 20x20, still all the way down to bedrock though. So yeah, then I come onto EMC, all new and fresh and... wow, 60 x 60? all for me?! And here we are... now I have 2 residences, close to each other on SMP2. Basically 3 because GripCEO (my alt) also has a residence next to mine. But that is meant to become more of a community building. And I got Utopia, 4times bigger
Same as Kytula - This was my first MC multiplayer experience. Where's the "I am totally new to this" tutorial lol What's tp mean? What's a chat channel? How do I type a command? Heck, there are commands??? Why is there only dirt under my res? Etc haha I had ZERO clue at all. Thank goodness many great people were willing to talk me through the noobness, and I devoured the entire EMC wiki as quickly as possible.
I actually didn't have any trouble with the commands, as when I joined vanilla Minecraft already had commands too. I had quite a bit of experience playing multiplayer too, as just after I bought Minecraft I stopped playing it (I played 'illegally' before), and only played Classic, on a nice server. I remember being the only active player with a custom skin, as most people wouldn't opt for Classic if they got the full game.
