I can think of a reason. ;) Some people's pc's or homes or ISP's might have imgur blocked. ;) I don't think this would be a reason to not allow it, as EMC recommends imgur in the tutorial about how to post an image, but it could be one, as in auctions it is way more important that everyone can follow what's being posted than in other threads. :)

    (this is a bump, of course; I wanted to reply as soon as I saw the message but I decided to wait until I could bump legally)
