How do you know that COVID-19 would kill 10 thousand people in 4 months? It hasn't even been 3 months since it surfaced. Moreover, the virus isn't spreading at normal speeds yet; maybe because instances are trying to prevent it. (hm, seems like I might be switching sides? Not that it matters much, this is just a profile post, not the actual thread :P)

To 607 actually the first reported case of Covid-19 was in December and 2019 because they originally said it came from eating bats

To Wafflecoffee The CDC website says that the death rate that I said happens from the seasonal flu every year

Coronavirus 1) has a higher death rate than the flu, 2) is worse than a flu symptom-wise, 3) doesn’t put countries on lockdown, 4) its expected to hit its peak in May, and 5) good for you that you don’t see it as a threat, just don’t pass it on to your grandparents or any diabetic you know

    6) Italian hospitals are cracking under the pressure of how many sick there are and is close to collapse (hence the lockdown). The flu does that on a much smaller scale every year - just illustrates to me how serious this is.

Flu has a vaccine. Coronavirus does not.

The important thing to understand is that Coronavirus has an exponential growth rate at this time. The true numbers are not truly known, nor is the behavior. More studies are revealing more aspects of the virus daily. There shouldn't be mass hysteria, but it is more severe of a situation than just your regular flu.

To both of you google the yearly death rate of the flu EVEN with the "Vaccine" it still kills 20k in the US ALONE every year. The corona without a "Vaccine" hasn't killed that many WORLDWIDE

On top of that coronavirus can surpass the flu. The disease has only been around since November AT LEAST, of course it hasn’t killed as many people as the flu has, because it isn’t at its peak infection rate.

I work with medical epidemiologists and numerous number of doctors in my field. We have never had the type of discussions that we are having to have right now. Do I think you should panic, no. But this isn't the flu and there's a lot more ahead before we get a true picture even of what we can look at.
