And yeah Tom that's pretty common at the high school levels in America. Particularly with more advanced courses like precalculus, calculus, etc.

Ah, interesting, we definitely don't have that here in the Netherlands! I'm happy with that, I think - allows us to have a break without anything that we have to do (there was a proper word for this >.<), with the only thing on the back of our minds being that we'll have to go back in a few weeks.

Then again, our summer break is "only" 6 weeks, so not as much knowledge is lost. :P (I think I greatly prefer it this way, wouldn't know what to do with all that time if it was shorter, and I do like my many other holidays throughout the year. :) )

It is indeed pre-calc. And I prefer having vacation, the fact I've had homework on my break for the past 3 years is annoying: we don't get a break, it's just non stop school school school, and you'd hope to get a break after 13 years of school? HAH. Community College for free in this state is either next year or nothing.

When I'm in the mood to just take the well deserved break, but I have to do it now now now. Ugh.
