I know :3. In dutch, we sometimes use 'guys' when we are referring to a group of people with mixed genders, like in Spanish :P. I thought that was the same in English :3
It is the same in English, but as with any other form of discrimination, I neither support, allow, nor perform sexism and transphobia. I am a Tennesseean, cisgender guy, but that does not in any way eliminate the possibility of being a liberal person, which I am.
I don't want to get too much off topic, and I know you mean it well, but here is my view too though:
If say there would be a group of all white persons and one black person, and I would note the black person separately, people would call it racism too (since I would make a distinction in the race).
Haha, it took me a bit before I understood the simile, haas... I get it now, though!
@We3: this has nothing to do with sexism or transphobia, don't worry. It's no issue if you don't use the phrase 'guys' when addressing anything other than male sex male gender people, but it's also no issue if anyone else uses it more broadly.
It feels a bit strange to me too, though. I guess it's a language thing.
In the Netherlands, girls often address their friends with 'guys', even if they're all female. Language is strange like that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
