Not really my place to comment but since this also happened to the same suggestion which I made (see link in thread): I think it is quite understandable that staff doesn't want this to end up in one huge (endless) discussion. Trust me: if I wanted to I could argue a lot more in favour of it, and so could others. It's just not the right place for it.

Yeah, but I don't like it when I see something and ready myself to give my opinion on it only to realise I can't :\
So if there's no arguing or real risk of drama, why close a thread if the OP doesn't request it themselves?

Well... In my opinion because there /is/ a risk of drama. Check out this 2013 thread, people even brought religion into the whole argument: https://empireminecraft.com/threads/suggestion-disliking-posts.22471/ Not saying this would happen again, but with that in mind I really can't blame staff for locking those threads.

In the suggestion box, if a suggestion is denied by staff, the suggestion is locked and moved to the archives in order to clean up the forums and prevent people from getting overly excited about something that we've denied. Most people will miss an errant btw this isn't ever going to happen post in the middle of a long thread.
