Please nerf iron farms

  1. With any hostile mob farm, there is the risk factor while making and using it. Also, nothing that has been changed on EMC makes it easier to build one of these farms, so it doesnt "need" to balance out. Since iron farms were made easier to make with mob egging, there should be some other change out there that balances it out. This way its being made easier by egging, and then the difficulty of actually getting the ingots would be reset by having them drop ore.
  2. That is a whole lot of poo. I could put together 15 skeleton farms and at least 2 blaze farms in the time it took me to put together a iron farm that the output was worth the effort. Iron farms are HUGE and require a lot or work and material to be useful. Small Iron farms don't do anything. Not to mentions that You are taking huge risk with iron farms because there is no practical way to hide them.
  3. When you look at everything you need to do to build an iron farm in SP or on another server, everything cancels out except the villager egging. Im comparing EMC effort to vanilla effort. So while you and many other people have spent a lot of time and effort building them, EMC's egging system has offset the balance. There needs to be balance. I cant think of any other change that has made any other type of mob system unbalanced when compared to iron farms. Unless i have missed something, every mob system/farm is neutral, except iron farms.
  4. I know you guys like to blame the egging, but honestly, if a mechanic exists, we will use it. If we didn't have the ability to egg villagers, then people, like myself would just find villages and set up breeders. I think that way would have caused alot more headache due to, well, how do you put that? The less... the idiots who would have created infinity breeders to get thier villagers and left them operating. I think those would have been taxing the server more than the iron farms.

    I spent probably over 200 hours on my last farm, you think 10 hours transporting two villagers across the map in mine carts would stop me? But hey, there may be the key to save the economy from the wrath of Aikar. Ban egging of villagers in the wild so I can start a business breeding in the wild and transporting. FYI selling two villagers for 200,00k each, delivered within 20,000 blocks from spawn. :) But really, once a big breeding operation would be set up, the price would level out if you "ordered carryout" so we would still have farms running rampant.

    Changing the egging wont effect anything. It will slow it down a couple weeks, but I gaurantee you, there will be breeding shops set up at all out posts within a few weeks. If it does happen, I personally will have them set up on server four within two.

  5. The easier and cheaper something is, the more people will do it. When things start becoming more complicated and expensive, less people will do it. But in my eyes it is still about balance. Dont get rid of egging, but make it more work to balance everything out again.

  8. Really? I didn't know that, we should bring that back! Just like XP it would be an interesting competition to see who can get the most money.
  9. But XP can easily be viewed on the player's profile.
    Their rupees can not.
    Just like real life, the amount of money someone has should not be available to everyone.
  10. Well maybe it could be set so that you have the option of showing how much money you have so that the player can decided how secretive he wants his profile to be.

    But set it to hidden default and then the player has to chose to show it.

  12. Exactly, that way new players to the server don't have to show how little rupees they have. Or really really rich players don't have to show off how much they have.
