  3. The Hero

The Hero let out a sigh, the first time they had taken a full breath without tension in a long time. Their quest was complete, the world had been saved.

Much rebuilding was still required, but for now the Hero just watched the sky, knowing that the fate of the world no longer sat on their shoulders. It had been a long road, with many trials and difficult decisions. While the memories would fade, the stories would only grow with time, further exaggerating what already was an amazing tale.

Nearby, a bird began to sing, almost as if on cue Mother Nature knew that her world was safe once again. The whole world seemed different now to the Hero. Where their footsteps felt a constant sense of urgency, now each step was lethargic with the pull of years of running. The Hero knew they wouldn’t go anywhere in a hurry for a while.

Time passed as the world regrew around the Hero. The world changed, but the Hero never did. They stayed there, just watching the world flow by them at the same pace it always had, but with the freedom it hadn’t felt in a long time.

Until suddenly, a figure appeared and looked at the Hero. “What could this mean?” The Hero thought to themself.

The figure spoke, “There are still more boxes in the basement that need to carried up, hurry up and stop staring out the window!”

The Hero suddenly felt captured again by the urgency of the world, forced into action to save the world once more…
