Hey all, Just letting you know that we're aware of the problem with larger ads cutting off part of the site access and making it more difficult to use the forums. It seems to be a change on Google's side of things. Aikar is working on a fix and we hope to have it resolved soon. In the meantime, please enjoy the bottom 3/4 of our site! -EMC Staff
Thanks for the info, I honestly thought it was on my end and it was really starting to get on my nerves
Score to adblocker. People say stop using it but I've had too many headaches with ads. So I block 'em. Google's getting more invasive...
I've mitigated the issue. Google is suppose to be calculating how much room it can use to display an ad, and their calculator randomly started deciding to use a bigger size on us... I've least locked the box to not be bigger than desired, but googles still trying to pick the wrong size atm. but at least that wont come at the annoyance of visitors anymore.
Yikes, that's a bad offender! I've never had this issue on my phone, ever, but then again, I don't search for pictures of cars to the point where data trackers think I want to buy one.~~
I only view the Empire on my computer, but wanted to inquire if anyone else noticed that Aikar made his comment at 11:11 AM..... Maybe it is a sign...Just food for thought. It is cool to see this issue is being mitigated for those that are having such issues though. Keep being cool my fellow Empireans. KnightZer0ne Tempered Outpost Founder
Advertising is based (simplified) on two numbers, per view and per click. I can run an ad on, say, carbonyxwebsite.com and not ever tell anyone about the website, and the only people that would find it would be very lost. I'd make no money at all. Ads in Google search results, especially for very high ranked searches, say "food near me" make absolute truckloads of money for Google because so many people are seeing and clicking on them. EMC is a sizable server with a pretty active website, so I'd say ad revenue is a good source of income.
