I have a slight concern

  1. Hi! I have been thinking, and the way empire's economy is going, I feel that we must take action. If you don't know, hyperinflation is a senecio where the value of money decreases significantly. A textbook example of this is Germany in the early 1920s. At one point, a loaf of bread was worth millions. While I mean no offense to any country that has had or still has issues with hyperinflation, a weak rupee would be catastrophic to the server. While it is unlikely that hyperinflation would ever happen, if it did, it would shake up the economy in a way that most would dread. While the shopkeepers would come up trump, those without shops or an income that can be negotiated would be left in dark. I would feel reassured to know that some form of plan is in place, considering voting generates rupees, and the emc shop is much smaller, increasing the rupee count. If you have read all this, thank you for reading this through, and have a merry Christmas!❄️

  2. I don't understand - I personally haven't felt any signs of hyperinflation, what would lead you to think that Empire is headed in that direction?
  3. Well considering the fact that voting generates rupees, and there isn't too much in the way state run shops other than the small emc shop
  4. The small amount of rupees put into circulation are heavily off set by the number of ways they are taken out of circulation.

For example. I will never dig out my own res. Nor would I pay a player. But a quick 60k to SS and boom it's done.

Also think of the promo shop this week alone. Millions have been taken out of circulation and promos have been bought. I bought a small 500k worth. I have friends who bought a million a piece.

  5. Well that is reassuring. I was just a bit concerned, as you do not see these things necessarily. Good to know there won't be any wealth inequality causing bouts
  6. Personally, I think I could survive just fine without the rupee if need be....it is not a requirement to build. It would take a while longer, but oh well, I am here for the long haul, whether or not rupees abound and promos are worth more than a loaf of bread in Germany in the 20's. Long Live the Empire!

  7. Generally rupees feel like a non issue. Heck if you look at the amount of promos this month and the rich buying them even a new player can make 100k.

Even if they don't sell the promos most people want to buy materials to build and they can make more rupees that way.

Then you add road edits and again shop world promo buying and Aikar has found a good mix to keep rupees flowing In and flowing out.
  8. I can't find it, but there has been a thread about this before. Indeed, it is made in a way that the rupee per active player isn't significantly de- or increasing, but also, most value still is in items, not in rupees.
Also, if you look to the diamond price (even though they can be gotten as a voting reward, an item that keeps its value) the price has been stable on 25r for a long time, shoot to 50, stabilized to shoot to 120 again, it has been at 130 for a while, and now the price is even dropping, I beleve it's at around 115 now, the economy usually stabilizes after a sudden increase or drop. That is because this still is a game, and the economy isn't as complex as a real life economy, and, mainly, it isn't the thing people store value in. I mean, if you have a lot of rupees, you usually don't keep them as rupees, most people start buying promos and/or supporter vouchers, because those have an a lot more stable value as rupees (Mainly supporter vouchers are great if you really don't want to take any risk) Tom and I usually try to not have over a million rupees at once, because of that.

BecuSe of the way most people do things like this, I really don't think a regulation like this is needed, most people have a sucker toy level themselves, and the rest doesn't really need it, as they wouldn't really experience the impact it has.

  9. I think my comment isn't needed anymore. :)
And yes, Jelle: this 'concern' arises every now and then.
