Hi everyone! I am new to the Empire and new-ish to Minecraft, and actually just bought the game after lurking the EMC wiki and forum for 2 weeks. EMC looks like a fun place to play, and the community really seems great. Previously I had briefly played cracked Minecraft on a cracked blacklisted server and, while it was fun, the community was certainly toxic. I am happy to now be on a legit, mature server. I'd like to take this opportunity to say Thank You to mod/organizer Dramanya, who helped free me when I became trapped behind a cobblestone wall in the Frontier/Marlix room of the tutorial. Apparently newbies can't chat or use commands while in the tutorial, so I was trapped unable to move or call for help. Dramanya showed up shortly after I sent a message via the EMC website contact form. Thank you Dramanya for your help. Finally, a question: does the /tell command work across servers? I've tried messaging people but keep receiving the error 'player not connected to this server'. So do i really need to find out which server a player in connected to, and then go to that server to message them?
First of all: welcome to the Empire! Hope you'll enjoy but something tells me you will. Minecraft is a game of its own and EMC heavily fuels that by giving you an experience which is pretty vanilla'ish. As a result there's tons to discover and learn, and even better: because EMC sits close to vanilla you can even use your singleplayer experiences right back on the Empire. And vice versa... Playing single player after a week of EMC is most likely not going to feel 'weird' (unless you grew seriously used to chatting with others of course ). And before anyone makes comments about this one... A lot of us have been there but don't want to fess up. I can't say the same for MC because I bought that right away, but I've also been naughty with other things If we're talking about the same thing, something tells me we are, then I am kind of sad that it still hasn't been fixed. Stuff like that tends to demotivate "certain players". Oh well Alas, I'm happy to learn you made it out alive! Nope, it's per-server only. So if your friend lives on, say, SMP2 and you're on SMP3 then you cannot chat with each other.
Welcome to emc! So happy you are liking the server - if you ever need anything let me know! (shoot me a pm in game or a pm here on the forums - my inbox is always open)
Welcome to the Empire, hope you have a good time on this server, and I hope we can become good friends on here
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I appreciate the kind words. My first thought upon getting stuck was How many others have gotten stuck, and did they ever get unstuck or did they just quit? The walled trap is located next to the tutorial room spawn point. There's no reason why anyone would even be there in the first place, unless, you know, they're frantically searching for a stone button Screenshot:
After leaving the aforementioned blacklisted server, I searched Google and TopG for vanilla survival/economy servers and then visited a bunch of server websites and forums to get a feel for their communities and styles of play.
Welcome! I remember when I joined, I got stuck outside of the spawn and I saw all this Redstone.... anyways the server fixed itself (or a SS was watching me and laughing) but it was all sorted out! Hope you feel good here!
Nice, yeah EMC appears pretty high on TopG lists so you probably saw it immediately. I'm happy to see you chose to join Empire Minecraft!
Since joining, I've learned that some servers are busier and more lively than others. Smp4 is usually kinda empty, but it was the Frontier map pixel art that initially drew me in
