Hi, it's me again! Yesterday afternoon - or was it morning?, an idea formed inside my head. I realised it. Please fill in this form, it should take you less than a minute and doesn't include any personal questions. https://goo.gl/forms/SCh3BrF8P6ytNDcG3
Nothing really, I was just interested! The idea came up and I thought "Ah, why don't I try make it work?" I mean, I didn't really know if I would be able to gather enough responses for a decent result, but so far I've gotten 10 (also shared it on Facebook), which is definitely not bad.
Ah, so it was you who did that! Anyway, I've already got quite a lot of entries: thanks, everyone! I wouldn't mind a bit more, though...
When I read "Pick a number between 0 and 1", I just assumed it meant whole numbers. EDIT: I wrote 1 and 7 at first because of Themog's post.
Most people do, and that's how I intended it. It's interesting that some people did pick non-whole numbers, though!
Haha! Well, we hit 100 responses, so I'll try process the data sometime! I'll keep the form open for responses, though, as the more responses, the more reliable the results, I suppose.
I'm intending to release the results Sunday! I could simply share the spreadsheet, but I'd like to write a little bit of text for it too. :)
Filled it out. I have a feeling there'll be a lot of 7's on the list. I think people by nature like to be unique, so they stay away from non-"mainstream" numbers: 1, 3, 5, 10, 13, 20, etc., and more often than not pick out 7 as a "random" number, leading to a lot of 7's and very few 1's, 3's, 5's, and 10's. Just a theory.
