  1. Hey everyone, I have an epic suggestion. Players near me keep going derelict, and either they get claimed soon by noobs who leave quickly, and those never get claimed, or they sign in, build wood fortresses and/or huge plant farms that I think are cool, then go derelict and lose it in 7 to 10 days. Please make the derelict timer 30 days for everyone, or do something like "you may pay 10,000 rupees per 10 days" to extend your derelict timer. Or, maybe even make it where active/well known members after their 200th day automatically have their derelict timer extended to 50 or 60 days, and their residence cannot be claimed by SYSTEM for 100 days, or even force-claim only for 1yr+ members. Anyways, please do this, because reses all around me keep going derelict, and at least one of the above would fix at least a third of this problem.

  2. Well, this would be based off the forums
    ( thats how I saw it )

But I like the derelict policy as it is at the moment.

  4. We can't do this. We would run out of residences. They are going derelict because that player chose to not stay with EMC, and its opening up room to give you a chance that a new neighbor who WILL stay with EMC will take its place instead.

I really dont think you want the plot to stay longer just for it to sit abandoned.
  5. Dp whatsome people in mumble do move next to somekne active or next to friends

  6. The derelict policy is already long enough at 30 days with the option to extend that via voting. Residences aren't meant to be built, then abandoned. If a player wants to keep their residence with no worry about it going derelict, they can purchase a permanent derelict voucher. If not, they will have to log in or at least vote every 30 days. I think this is MORE than reasonable.
  7. I was going to say the exact same thing, :p

  8. Oh ok. Though this an old problem in my neighborhood, and this would fix it if you did.
  9. We need the derelict policy, so there isn't too many empty residences that are claimed.

  13. Do you notice your neighbors coming back onto the server? If not, this wouldn't solve your problem.
  14. Most of them do not, and they often lose cool builds, or have noob residences and those are never taken.
  15. It would fix everything though. Cool builds built by noobs are being claimed in like 7 to 10 days, or they are dirt and signs with small dirt or terrian huts that never get claimed for a very long time.
  16. i think what you are trying to say is you want to keep the people who put time into their buildings to stay and not get force-claimed by new players who just build a small house then never come back on. However, after the new person goes derelict the process starts over again letting another new person able to force-claim a derelict residence. If anyone who has been playing on emc for over a year has protection from derelict status that makes it harder to find a res and doesnt do anything better for your neighborhood you just have cool builds around you and no one playing on them. I see what you are saying however the derelict status helps to make sure anyone can play on EMC whether they are new or old its just they have to actually play

  17. there are plenty of ways to protect the reses, such as vote, and re-log, etc, and sometimes it may seem like they have a lot, but they could have gone and left emc due to real life and all....

  18. I *DO hope a change is made with the derelict policy making it necessary for you to change a block on your res every 30 days. :p
I totally understand that people need to take time away from emc, but there are so many res' out there that never change, yet the upkeep is paid with voting or logging in once for 2 minutes every 29 days. :(

  19. We already have this: "you can /vote every day to extend your derelict timer to your maximum limit".

Funny you should say that considering that I recently went over the 200 days myself. But I'm still against the idea. I like the suggestion, and what you're trying to do, but I don't think this is the right way.

If I want to keep my stuff safe I should know by now (200 days?) that I need to play, /vote or become a supporter. And if I'm really into this I can always get myself the Permanent Derelict Protection.

Now, this is not a sneer but simply a remark: you could also help your fellow players out by trying to make them aware of the derelict policy.... Merely suggestion them to /vote could do the trick already.

I hope not because it would go directly against the "play as you want" approach. What if I'm happy with my residence the way it is? Why should others be allowed to decide that I need to change things while I don't want to?
  20. People who are active on emc change something on their res all the time. Whether it be changing a sign, taking things in and out of their chests, adding decorations, things of that nature. The "play as you want" I don't think was intended for the type of player I mentioned above: Logging in for 2 minutes every 29 days just to save a res where they only have a few pieces of dirt placed. These players have little or no intention of actually playing on EMC or contributing to the community. I see it all the time.
