  1. Hey guys,
So i've set myself a task of building myself a neat gaming PC, the one I am using as the moment is... well it's just crappy and I need a new one, I have spent a while searching for new parts and speaking to friends/pc forum members and this is what I have come up with (So far).

    Graphics Card: £216.56
Asus AMD Radeon R9 290 DirectCU II OC Graphics Card (4GB, GDDR5, PCI Express 3.0)

    Power Supply: £74.99
Corsair CP-9020054-UK RM Series RM650 80 Plus Gold 650W ATX/EPS Fully Modular Power Supply Unit

    CPU: £115.26
    AMD FX8320 Black Edition 8 Core (3.5/4.0GHz, 8MB Level 3 Cache, 8MB Level 2 Cache, Socket AM3+, 125W, Retail Boxed)

    CPU Water Cooling: £59.99

Corsair Hydro H75 Liquid Cooler for CPU

    Motherboard: £159.99

    Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z Motherboard (AMD 990FX/SB950, DDR3, S-ATA 600, ATX, PCI-Express 2.0, USB 3.0, SupremeFX III, Extreme Engine Digi+ II, Socket AM3+)

    RAM: £46.34

Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz CL9 XMP Performance Desktop Memory Kit Black

    Case: £49.99

Corsair CC-9011041-WW Carbide Series 200R Windowed Compact ATX Performance Computer Case – Black

    Hard Drive: £41.64

WD 1TB 3.5 inch Internal Hard Drive

    Total cost: £764.76

I would love as much input as possible, feel free to suggest any changes I should/could make to the list and/or annything I could add to it. I really would like to keep the price below £800.

    Thankyou

  2. Have you accounted for buying an operating system for your build?

  5. Very nice in my opinion good choices just make sure 650w is enough to support all that

  6. Thats a good point actually, I upgraded my choice of graphics card as I had a little more room to spend. I think I'll upgrade my power supply.to a 750w

  7. nice pc, only thing is thats a small hard drive, atm, i am on a laptop and i am using 20 TB of data. hehe
  8. How could you possibly be using that much memory space?

  9. i have just about 1.9 million TV Shows as well as around 900k movies. I also have a couple hundred thousand songs, not to mention all the programs haha. Oh and lets not forget about the 100 xbox games and 50 pc games haha.
  10. are they all removable HD's?
  11. I could spend an extra £20 and get a 2TB hard drive? That might suit me better and I can always purchase more 2TB's if need be
  12. I really hope those are tears of joy?
  13. I highly don't recommend getting that AMD CPU. AMD CPUs have a much lower IPC (instructions per clock) then Intel's chips. I highly recommend going Intel.

When AMD sent out review samples of the 290X, they even sent out Intel CPUs to go with them since they know that their own CPUs will bottleneck it.
  14. But when windows 10 is released, it is said that it will run much smoother and faster with AMD? Also if I was to switch to intel.. would it be better for me to switch my graphics card to a Nvidia GeForce 960 or 970? Thanks for the feedback

  15. Intel i5-4690k and GTX 970 if you can.
  16. That was my first choice but one of my friends told me that AMD would be future proof for windows 10, that it would have better performance than the i5 as it has double the cores at a cheaper price.
  17. I would seriously doubt the credibility of that person. That statement couldn't be any more false. "Double the cores at a lower price" indicates that he was judging the performance of the chip solely on the clock speed and cores, which straight up is a horrible way to do it. The IPC of AMD chips can't touch Intel at the moment and that can be seen quite easily on benchmark charts.
  18. Graphics Card:
EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Superclocked ACX 2.0

    Power Supply:
Corsair Builder Series CXM 750W Modular 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX/EPS PSU

    CPU:
Intel Core i5 i5-4690K CPU (Quad Core 3.5GHz Processor, 6MB Cache, Intel HD 4600 Graphics, Socket H3 LGA-1150)

    CPU Water Cooling:

Corsair Hydro Series H55 All-In-One Liquid Cooler for CPU

    Motherboard:

    Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

    RAM:

    Corsair CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10B 8GB (1x 8GB) Vengeance DDR3 Memory Module Kit - Blue
