I don't think someone would lose confidence just because no one likes it. There wouldn't be a dislike button, so either you would like it, or you would say nothing. Also the spam is illegal and would be just as illegal as, say, spamming a server ip: "Join my server: play.example.dontgotothislink"
I like the /red friend or /friend because maybe you could get to the res faster; like do /friend and make a nickname. My friend is CHARLIE4872 so maybe like /friend CHAR or something like....just a suggestion. =P I don't like the rates because it might cause drama or players to feel like they have no chance. /res like would cause drama because people would be competing for the most likes. It could also put people down thinking they have no creativity or are disliked =P
We have a like system on the site. It works perfectly fine. Why would res liking cause any more problems than site likes? You only mention the negatives in the situation. Players may also see that someone liked their res and be filled with joy. History says that it shouldn't be much of a problem in terms of drama and feelings.
I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure spam and advertising are different and one is more illegal than the other (Obviously advertising being more illegal over spam ).
Well i suppose... it was just an example. I couldn't think of a better example for spamming because no one spams on EMC so i never see any examples... you're all too nice
