Goodbye Empire Minecraft :(

  1. And not even that, logblock honestly doesnt take up that many resources, but this point has been hit up precisely by Justin once, I will search for the quote and post it. but until then I will put my version.

EMC offers a safe place for you to build. Its stated many times throughout the guide and tutorial. This does not mean that we do not want people to build in the wild, or even really discourage it. Its more of a, at your own risk, kind of thing. If logblock or something similar was installed, it would be a disaster. This means anytime anything got griefed (and if you saw the report flags, happens more often than you would think) A staff member would have to go to the scene and look at each block and determine who removed what from where. While this sounds nice, I visit this other tekkit server very often and they use these tools immensely. They have 100 total players (versus our nearly 30,000 registered members now) and they have AS MANY staff members as we do. And every day all day, the staff members are looking at logblock to investigate greifing.. they have no time for anything else.

Now, to combat that problem the Empire was nice enough to give 1 (or multiple) 60x60 plots that are completely protected unless you, as a player, unprotect it yourself. Now, this does not mean we will not ban greifers in the wild. We will, IF they are caught and enough proof is given. But there are many dimensions to moderating this server, not just single lane of "griefer subduing forces". As much as I would personally love to catch every griefer out there.

Long story Short... EMC gives you a safe place to build. Yes there are griefers.. but adding logblock is like saying, ok, where ever you want to build is fine, if you run into any trouble just yell help and a super mod will fly in to save the day. As ideal as that sounds, with the capacity to hold over 500 players at any given time, that can be taxing on our staff... who, by the way, moderate in other ways too. Griefing is horrible, but it is not the only problem in minecraft.
  2. Yeah folks it's been fun but I think I do not want to deal with rebuilding all the stuff that was destroyed :( BUTTTTT I have decided to stay and finish making the videos that I have started. I feel like I owe that to justin and all the members of the emc nongriefer community

  3. I beg to differ.

I understand that you say that you do not encourage people to build in the wild, but I there's no point in saying that griefing is not allowed when you get away with it 99 percent of the time.

As for the 'difficulty' of logblock, that is also not true.

When an admin gets called to a griefed scene, the only thing he has to do is ask the griefed player where blocks are missing, get out the bedrock and check those blocks. Once you get the name of 1 griefer you can type /lb area <playername> sum blocks to see how much he has destroyed. You easily tp to places by adding coords instead of sum blocks. After 2 minutes (yes, this doesn't take long) you can proceed to /ban <player>

And type /lb rollback sel <playername> time 1 day.

A few commands, 4 minutes of work and a happy community.

    Nice, isn't it?
  4. I've been griefed, too. :( But not nearly as bad as you've been griefed. Are there any plugins that can detect mods like X-Ray and Fly Mod?
  5. A fly mod detector is NoCheat and is a must for all servers, It's not currently on this server for reasons I don't know.
There's no such thing is a solid X-Ray detector, there are some light detectors but they have their flaws.

There are plugins that can tell admins if a player has mined too many diamonds than humanly possible, but without logblock they will not have enough proof to ban a player over this.

Other plugins like FoundDiamonds will broadcast the admins if a player finds diamonds. But the EMC system is based on admins not being ingame, so that won't work either.
  6. That's too bad. :(
  7. Ahh Frodo :( Dont leave!
If you leave, the griefers win! D':
Come over to SMP2 where people have pritty much settled in now :)
I'll even lockup some chests for you.

  8. they cant do that because i have seen justin zooming around ther servers doing stuff. thats the sad part because i saw a few flyers on smp8 but i couldnt see their name, even when zoomed in with optifine. i should have taken a picture, and i tried, but i was too late. my laptop is too laggy at taking pictures.

there should be a bukkit mod that looks through a players texture pack before they join. it ignores areas like ice and glass, doors and trapdoors, but it would look at areas like stone, dirt, wood, ores, etc.
  9. I forgot to add that for $5 a month you get to use "/MAP HIDE" and this one function is a griefers nightmare. I'm pretty sure they live off the Live Map and if they can't see you or where your going they can't find your stuff. Blind luck takes a lot of traveling and searching and that it too much work for griefers.
  10. I hate to see you go, frodo. Just think about the kind souls here at the Empire, not the horrible ones who will take advantage of their kindness.
  11. If NoCheat was on the servers, the people trying to fly wouldn't be able to fly because the plugin would not allow them to. And their fly attempt will send a message to the admins saying they're trying to fly.
  12. (note: the system already does kick players if they are in the air without touching a block for an extended amount of time, it simply appears as a disconnect.)

Well, the problem about that is the block glitch. When you place a block on someone else's res and jump on it, the block is logged on your client but not on the server, because the server will not accept the placed block, but, because your client does, you can move upwards by placing blocks. The server registers your player moving and accepts it. This is called block-flying and is illegal. However, this process happens the same with lag, when the server will not accept the block but your client does. This is what causes the often 'random' kicks by the system for flying. System reprimands against flying cannot be bannable because it is often a result of lag. Or at least, this is how I've seen it. Forgive me if I'm wrong.
  13. Still not a good argument to not install NoCheat

  14. no but im saying that it would try to kick the admin as well. aslo i like how you clipped out the part about me saying that. hmm.
i get so pissed when people do that, especially on parkour. i was doing some parkour (i paid to enter) and then i saw some bastard jump the 3 high fence and get in! the fee was only 10 r but he was so cheap to do that.
  15. It's not an argument against nocheat, I'm just pointing out that:
    1) We are not completely defenseless against flying
    2) The system that defends us from flying little children (and adults) is not COMPLETELY perfect.

  16. Like this? XD
But if you have the username of the player, and proof, you can get him banned, or at least punished.
  17. little children is an understatement. notice how half the people banned are barely old enough to read. once i saw an 5 year old on the forum. next thing i saw they where whining about being banned for stealing. they said that "sharin is corin." i literally quote that. they couldnt even spell caring, or sharing.

  18. I have a friend named Corin, he doesn't like to share though.

  19. I'm against big replies. NoCheat is permissions based. Give the admins the node and fix'd.
  20. well that fixes everything! lol woops didnt think of that.
