  1. A lot of empire events rely on what has become known as 'EMC time', however new players may be unsure of which timezone this is, and even experienced players may forget or become confused by differences in how daylight savings time is done.

In terms of looking this up, there are limited resources:
    • A Google search for 'emc time' and 'empire minecraft time' turn up no results.
    • Searching the site for 'emc time' or 'time' similarly is not helpful.
    • The new player guide on the wiki does not mention anything.
    • There is nothing on the empire events and locations section of the wiki.
    • If I go to visit an event, for example, Friday Night Miners, it mentions it is at 8 PM EMC time, but no mention of what timezone that is.
    • The Empire Assistant does not appear to explain how to get the current 'emc time'. (I would expect a clock icon.)
After much searching, I did find on the commands page of the wikithe /time command along with the timezone information. Still, I think such critical and simple information should be highly visible for new players. I had a few ideas to improve this system:
    • An Empire Clock page with a JavaScript clock to show the current time. It would be linked from various event pages. As well as keeping the pages less cluttered, this page could also feature a countdown to upcoming events.
    • An Empire Clock gadget which just shows the current time on the site. (Possibly as a link to the above page.)
    • Adding an Empire Clock to the Empire Assistant which does /time for new players.
    • A possible additional item called the 'Empire Clock' which displays the time when right-clicked.
Making this information clearly visible to players will increase turnout to events and result in more time having fun on the game instead of trying to figure out a simple thing like this.
  2. Are you talking about time on the forums? If so I've seen this asked a while back.
If you're talking about ingame people can just /time.

  3. I think perhaps there could be an empire clock, that shows EMC's current time, as well as a few popular time zones in comparison?
EDIT: I mean an in-game item, btw.
  4. /time is a command. Simple, informative, and usable.

  5. Yes, /time works ingame. However, instead of having its own page, I'd like to see EMC time on the top of the page. I think right next to the "become a supporter" would be a perfect place for it.

  6. Having it at the top of the page is an excellent idea which should be added to the poll. Obviously, this would be the most convenient option. One advantage with having the clock on it's own page would be the additional information which could be added to such a page, such as upcoming events and countdowns. Users can see at a glance that Friday night miners is in 6 days and 7 hours, for example. This should really make it easy for people who want to attend all the events. You would also be able to put the full date as well as the time, which would help users from other continents (Europe, Asia, Australia), as the day would also often be different for them.

  7. Perhaps on the "Events" page (located here)?
  8. Australia isn't a continent :p
  9. Excuse me - someone changed the poll and it switched my answer - I did 'not' vote for that.
  10. I put a description of EMC time in the event page you listed. I agree that something at the top of the site would be useful.

  12. It's Australasia actually - it used to be Oceania

  14. ;-; its like 1am... I need to read what I type lel
  15. Australasia is NOT a continent. It's a region within Oceania. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceania - "The term is often used more specifically to denote a continent comprising Australia and proximate islands".

EDIT: Sorry to OP for off topicness. Imma stop now. If anyone wants to continue this then PM me.
  16. Cool. I learned something new today. :)
