  1. Now this is not fair! I was sniping monsters from far distances and then I received the Sniper Duel achievement which is to kill a skeleton with an arrow from more than 50 meters. "50 meters" is 50 blocks away horizontally for people that are trying to do the math. So I decided to start killing more mobs doing this method when that anti-cheat message appeared saying “It appears that Monster is having a trouble getting to you… Extra rewards chance reduced.” Of course it was having a hard time. I was over 50 blocks away and over water! Since when has Mine craft become equal opportunity for monsters as well? It looks like this server only accept Melee Fighters and not range fighters.

Come on, there is got to have some equality for range fighters.

  2. The reason for this is because the monster had almost no chance of getting to you. What the message is saying is that you won't get as many of the special rewards. Vanilla drops will still be the same. You can continue to do this and just get normal vanilla drops (although it is probably hard to get them from that far away) or you can use a shorter range sniping to get the special drops.

  3. That is why it's unfair! It's not my fault that the monster can't get me! I would rather waste a few arrows and preserve my armor and health by killing it from a distance than running up to it and getting my gear damaged or probably killed. You would do anything to survive! If an opportunity arises where I can kill something from a distance to stay safe, I would. It is somewhat hurtful hearing that you are cheating some way when you are not.
  4. You aren't cheating, it is just that, on EMC, when you risk "getting your gear damaged or probably killed" you are rewarded with extra EMC only drops.
  5. So in other words the reward system is being bias then! Especially on how the players plays, giving an unfair reward advantage to those players who fight crazily from the ones that fight smart.
  6. The reward system is based on risk. The higher the risk, the higher the reward. As you said, you were not placed in much risk when you were sniping. Playing smart puts you in less risk, so you don't get the special rewards. Think of it as putting your money in different places. Banks are low risk and low reward as apposed to other riskier investments that are high risk high reward. Are these systems unfair? No. In exchange for the safety, you are given less. It makes sense and balances out.

  7. Lol that just sounds kind of funny... Vanilla drops from a Custom mob?

Good thing i'm a pretty stupid player! I derp the special items!

  8. Nope. It doesn't let you get special drops if the mob can't get to you. If it didn't do that, then mob grinders would be producing special drops, and poof, the drops aren't special anymore.

  9. I hate this message too. I got it once when I was trying to shoot an enraged creeper in a massive hole his buddies kept blowing up outside my base. It happens at times it shouldn't.

  11. Than you have to think about if your way is the "smart" way to fight or if it is smarter to invest some amor and maybe even die and get special drop ;)
  12. One other scenario is when I had an enchanted bow with Unbreaking 3, Power 5, Punch 2, Flame 1 and Infinity 1 on it. I was walking when I heard an Enraged Creeper preparing to explode. Out of sheer reflex, I quickly pulled the bow strings back and shot an arrow to it. Because of Punch 2, it knocked it back far from me and then the second shoot pushed it back even further. When it came to the third shot it showed that anti-cheat message saying “It appears that Monster is having a trouble getting to you… Extra rewards chance reduced.” Is that my fault that the enchantments on my weapon prevented it from getting closer to me? If that’s the case, what is the use of beefing up my bow like that? There was a risk involved because it actually got close enough to me to prepare to explode. It's just sucks to hear I could have a Reward if I just changed my way of playing.

  13. That is actually not good. I think there are some bugs with the system partially because it is hard to get a computer to understand something that can't always be quantified.
  14. Is there anyone that can adjust it so the public can see the votes?
  15. It is on our to do list to improve the risk gauge system to reduce the # of false positives like this.

However, the EULA stuff kind of stole focus :(

  16. Ok, as long as someone else noticed it as well and something will be done in the near future.
  17. Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with the above examples. Should we be able to snipe enraged mobs when they have 0 chance of getting to us? I'd say no.

Should we be able to kill enraged mobs with a punch 2 bow when they have 0 chance of getting to us? I'd say no again.

Should we be able to trap them in holes that they can't get out of and kill them? Still gotta say no.

None of those examples sound like "false positives" to me.

In one example he said he was sniping them from across a river when he got the message. Seems to me it's working as intended.

Don't get me wrong. I'll sell Unlucky Bows with punch 2 all day long but I'd be very careful when it comes to adjusting those messages.

If you want to adjust something how about their drops? I killed one the other day and got 3 diamonds. Really? In the good old days (i.e a couple of weeks ago) when you were lucky enough to get diamonds, it was usually 7 to 9. Now were down to 3? You're killing us Mob Hunters. Might as well just drive a stake through my heart and finish me off. :(

  18. Daguman said in the punch II event that the creeper had every ability to get to him and nearly did; he just reacted quickly enough to save himself. Preventing farm use is one thing, yet impeding those who choose archery is something that really should not happen.
