  1. Hi, it's me again!

So, I have this little problem and am looking for anyone with knowledge about iPhones or iPads. My iPad has been flooded with iMessages, and they are taking up a way too significant amount of storage space. I've turned off iMessage for now, but would still like to have them gone. Does anyone know a way to get your iMessages from your iPad to a pc? It doesn't have to be free, I am willing to pay in order to keep some conversations I've had in the past.
I hope you can help me.
  2. You should be able to just swipe them and delete the ones you don't want, if you want to keep them can't you just screenshot them?
  3. Bump D: I have 0 bytes available and need to update angry birds go.. :(
  4. When you do not know, do you at least know a place I could go to where they might be able to help me?
  5. Views: 25. I hope I could get at least a little more because there might be somewhere around here knowing how to help me.
  6. Isn't there a storage place in settings? Just delete all the imessage stuff.
  7. You can't see that in iOS 6, and in iOS 7 there's a bug where they won't be actually deleted. I thought someone would know some kind of software to just get them as a text file or something at your pc.
  8. The first thing that came to my mind was iCloud but then again I don't think there's a way to have that setup with your PC, since Apple loves to exclude PCs from all the nice things and pressure you to use a Mac.

However, after some research, I found something called DiskAid that should let you plug in your iDevice to your PC and manage it that way. I haven't spent any real time trying it out so let me know if it works and if not then I'd be happy to find another possible solution for you.
  9. Put it in your notes, maybe?
  10. 0 bytes available? How many imessages do you have
I would check to make sure it is actually the imessages that are taking up to much space. A quick look online shows that each imessage is only 1kb big so you have to send about 1.049e+6 massages to reach 1gb. I don't think your problem is imessages. Try deleting apps first. app store apps usually are pretty large.
    xHaro_Der and tedrocker like this.
  11. that's true as well, you should go to your general -> usage settings and see which apps are taking up the most space. Text does not take up much space at all, so my solution probably wouldn't do anything.
  12. It's probably the films that people sent me over iMessage.
I'll check out xHaro_Der's suggestion though.

    (also, I didn't know  was a synonym(synonym?) for :o :p)
  13. It has to be your apps, the films don't save to your camera roll without you doing so. Wither it's your photos/videos or your apps...
  14. Maybe you should try cleaning your cache. It starts getting huge after some time.
    PenguinDJ likes this.
  15. Cache?
  16. Yes.
  17. I think Tomvan is referring to retained iMessage conversations which have not been used for some time.
  18. No just all the cache on the device. I cleared my cache from my phone after using it for over 2 years (it used about 8GB of storage). The cache was a massive 250+ MB.
  19. They don't get saved to your camera roll, but they are saved (in some portion) to your phone, usually (or always) to your cache.

It you open up multitasking and close iMessages (preferably all your other apps too, but test it with just iMessages) there, then restart your phone you may have some more free space. If you do then the issue is most likely just the data accumulated on your phone from browsing, viewing videos etc.
  20. Hold your home button then tap and hold the first application on the bar that comes up on the bottom of the screen. Hit the - on all the applications until there are none left, then restart your phone. If that does not work, try DiskAid to move over photos/videos/messages, and if that does not work, sorry mate you gotta delete apps lol.
