  1. I disagree with this statement. :p
"We are the ultimate superior species in the entirety of the universe" that we know of.
What about the other six and half billion? Don't they matter?

Now that the thread isn't dominated by religion; I may rejoin this debate. ;)

  2. Not if they can't survive which Considering 72Volt's statement I assume they could not.
  3. Which statement exactly are you drawing this conclusion from?
  4. Actually, yes. This is the dictionary definition of technology.
The application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, esp. in industry
I think bridges made of other ants falls into that category. and architecture of massive tunnel systems. And maybe social and governmental hierarchies. Certainly not able to surpass humanity but still technology
Yes. Rhinos can emit noises that are understood and interpreted by other rhinos.
*Homo Sapien Sapien. We named ourselves doubly wise (Darn Humans, being doubly wise than any other animal and such)
  5. This Statement brings me to that conclusion.

In fact they do if we are going to look at the correct definition of Culture, also don't forget most of our own advancements come from the lower beings in our food chain in all forms of our life so in fact they do have a culture as we wouldn't had been here where we are without viewing the behavior(Culture) of a lower being.

As it was said above in fact they do, Did you not know those tiny mountains that you see above the ground in most Tropical Islands its not actually an ants Home, its their ventilation system, Also it has been proven many times they have a better and more sophisticated communication system than we do, Did you also know wireless Connection was invented because Ants actually communicate wireless between the Colony and the Scout in search for food or water and other resources.

And again, they actually Do not at the same level as we were we can process everything into a Psychological filter, but they have it to a degree where is limited and instinctive. Our instincts in the other hand follow variable of choices that we may take, They have to follow what best suits the situation they are in, we follow what best suits whatever our brain has diagnosed.

Every Animal has a Language of which they use to communicate. Just because you can't understand it doesn't make it "Not a Language" cause I could easily say Chinese, Russian, German and anything that is not Spanish or English is not a language as I don't understand it and to me its gibberish, in this statement here you can notice many people would be offended. Not saying animals are offended by what you just wrote but just pointing out an example.

This is actually the only thing that Holds true as Animals don't have the care to work in finding out where they came from or producing a philosophy to explain things.

I don't know how Ultimate we are when we are searching for someone way better than us out in space, if we where "Ultimate Species" we wouldn't care who was out there and worried about how strong or Over developed they are over us. Also According to many religions we aren't the ultimate species as some religions believe we will re-incarnate as animals. Also according to some religions we humans "Ultimate apparently" are the only ones who are punished in hell and animals aren't punished at all in fact their spirit goes straight to heaven, Although we have a soul. But the point here is we are always looking for someone who is better and we have a deep belief there is someone better so we are not "Ultimate" probably the most advanced Species known to us, but not Ultimate.

  7. Guys, Volt was just using the animal thing as an example, whether or not it's technically true isn't really relavant. I would say we all pretty much agree that we are more advanced than animals.

  9. Uh, yes they do. People on Death Row have, among other things, the right to die as painlessly as possible. The Eighth Amendment to the United States Constitution says (slightly paraphrased) "cruel and unusual punishments shall not be inflicted." The stuff you're proposing here would be struck down LONG before the idea ever got anywhere.

How would you feel if you had been falsely imprisoned for murder, and told that "you have no rights, and we're going to be performing horrific experiments on you that can never be reversed should you be found not guilty in the future," eh? There have been people who were put in jail who were later found to be innocent. I remember the story of one guy who was inside bars for 18 years, before they found him innocent. What about those people?

Nope. There are valid reasons to hurt or kill people, (self-defense comes mind) and additionally, there are accidental ways to hurt and kill people that deserve mitigated punishment.

Would grind the speed of transportation of goods down to a halt, (would be destructive for business, science and whatever else relies on speedy transportation of goods) and would be extremely costly. I guess you also suggest an increase in taxes substantially? Never mind that the US already is in extreme debt...

And by the way, what are they "checking," exactly?

Oh yeah, doesn't it sound great to be under absolute control, where the leader has no limits and their actions have no consequences to them? What could possibly go wrong in such a system?! History has shown that power corrupts, especially absolute power. Just look at all the dictatorships of history (and current ones) and see if people who lived there are happy about the way they were being governed.

I'd like to see a technocracy in action, myself.

  12. I know this topic is past, but hear me out.

I really can't decide. Chocolate has a richer better flavor.

Vanilla, though, is like a blank canvas; you can put almost anything on it.

  13. Yes, this.

So, because they can't survive your vision of world peace, they simply do not matter??
  14. I know I'd never fall there so I wouldn't even feel a scratch and for the people who are there, well to bad but science & technology must advance, All the Jews that where sacrificed where innocent so I think we are past that now.

I Honestly don't believe in such a thing.

everything, for items that are not supposed to be on a plane for example people,
Transporting them self's from point A to Point B and being successful, if "Black" in the Box can make it "Sand Black" in a box can also make it.

Yulie really doesn't care much for such minor factors, My theory is if you can't live in the worst conditions and survive through them without complaining of how much your panocha hurts, well too bad. I could happily live in an autocracy very happy and if someone stupid rises up to power all the smart society will look to take him off even his own government and it has been done before in many Powers before us and before US even wished to exist. Sowe are just making up problems now of which have existed for centuries and dealt with. Prusia and The Maratha Confederacy where great examples of Absolute power as they followed "Absolute Monarchy" but people started complaining about how much their panocha hurts even Hitler made amazing use of absolute power of course he had a supper hate for The Jews but that was a minor sacrifice for the amount of people who exist today. Probably the world needed a balance and since Jews didn't have a Home Country they where easy targets.

When I became 21, My mother divorced my dad and amazed of how well I was doing without them after they had emancipated me at the age of 18(technically thrown out of the house for being a lesbian)(It was my dad who took the decision of doing it) She came looking for me and asked for my forgiveness I did with remorse but I'll never forget these words: Yulie, you've done well in life look at all you've done without anyone but yourself. Always remember that the Weak never live. And from that Day forward that has been my Motto: the weak never live.
  15. This is exactly the problem with absolute power, not an example of why it's good. What Hitler, and through him the Nazi's did, could possibly be one of the worst atrocities in all of modern history. As to the Jews being a "minor sacrifice," over 6 million completely innocent Jews were killed because Hitler had absolute power, and around 10 times that many where killed in the whole of WWII. Yes, a lot of great advancements came from that war, just like the world advanced after the Black Death. However, to say that these advancements are more important than the lives lost is simply imoral. The fact that absolute power allows something like this to occur is exactly why a autocracy is a flawed system.
  16. Its only flawed for those who care for things that would never affect them, just like so many religions care to ban gay marriage its all a pointless directed opinion. Also only some people view it as an atrocities many people view it as something that had to happen as without it our technology and Medicine would had taken longer to advance. Also there is 8 Billion+ people in the world 60+million people is a meaningless amount to damage even the slightest margin of 8+ billion also you're crying for them when almost the same amount of people die yearly so you cry for all or you just don't cry at all.

P.S. I forgot to mention gay's and others that I forgot about where also sacrificed in the holocaust.
  17. I believe its around 7 billion, currently. At the beginning of WWII, there were only 2.3 billion. 60 million was quite a lot, and many countries had to deal with labor shortages, Russia being the main one. We dont know how advanced we would be right now if we hadnt had WWII, because we have no idea how many great minds were drafted and then killed.

  18. A picture doesn't make 1,000 words because it can only mean so much.
  19. I honestly have no faith there was anything useful in that pack. In this matter I believe in Natural selection and so happens that they had to be dumped sooner than others.
  20. You've got to be joking. You really believe that out of all the millions of courageous people who fought for their countries and for what they believed in, that none of them could have been useful to society??? Have you ever heard of Dietrch Bonhoeffer? Or any of the other brilliant, courageous, smart, or inventive people who were killed in the war? Saying that they were simply weaker or less important than the survivors is simply, I don't know, sort of arrogant.
