[Old Thread] Mob Arena

So actually doing things outside of minecraft shows that I'm not trying to win? I believe your reasoning is off.

Then save up for one arena event a month, and just use iron or so in the other three. Just try to have fun! Its not about winning. These events are held to bring the community together, not to have some members excluded just because they are better at the event.

is there anyway to get the arena to start earlier?

That is true. You have to know what you are doing, what you are up against, what kind of mobs will harm you more than others, and which potions you use. You walk in there with god armor, god sword and god bow, but no potions, you are going to get your butt kicked.

Actually, knowing the right places takes all that armor/bow/sword price down A WHOLE lot! Here is what I used my last game getting 2nd, right behind nick. Approximate Pricings also:

Prot IV Diamond Helmet: 1k-1.2k
Prot IV Diamond Chest: 1k - 1.2k
Prot III Diamond Leggings: 1k - 1.2k
Prot I Diamond Boots: 240r + 1 level
Smite III Knockback I sword: 100r + 19 levels
(No bow!)
3 Fire res Pots. - 75r
3 Regen 2:00 Pots. - 105r
3 Health II pots. - 60
(No god apples!)
64 Melon - 2r
So thats about only 20 levels of exp and 3.75kish. See? No need to over pay for armor. Where I got the armor: 12162 M4nic_m1ner. Kinda advertising for him in the same sense too

Yeah, thats just what I used for my 2nd placer and it worked fine A second set of armor is a good idea if you have skill and protection IV because chances are, you won't be using that armor for long. Unbreaking III is probably your best option there if you are conservative because it lasts as 4 armor sets total along with your regular. And, you won't even have to use time up to switch out. I know how much of a pain in the butt that can be.

Lol in the Sword event, right before ICC hit the zombie pigmen and sent it all over us, my Unbreaking III armor was almost dead.

At least in Davie's mob arena anyway....

I needed a way to keep players from avoiding the mobs. Insert lava walls, forcing the players into the middle. I needed a quote for lava walls, took your sig. Hope you don't mind.

The problem with lava walls in the arena is that most serious competitors will bring many fire resistance potions.
