Debate/Argue Thread

  1. I cannot belive your ridiculing me for speaking the truth. I am out of this arguement. Have fun.
  2. He is just trying to help you provide more solid grounds for your arguments in the eyes of those of us who dont agree with you.

  3. Okay to me, I have my questions about God, why I should believe in him, and why I should trust science, so I will need time to think about this.
  4. Fine, I'll provide another source.
    Here it is.
  5. I lol'd.
  6. Why? Cause of the bloatware statement? It is true, ya know.
  7. Note the bold, please (emphasis mine). He "prefers his devices as simple as possible." Bloatware is basically the same as malware or viruses on a PC in that you don't have to worry about it if you're actually careful about what you download. Y'know, basic Internet 101 common sense stuff.

As to the rest of it, he also mentions "all my friends have iPhones" and "I get the majority of my music from iTunes. This makes iTunes Match an extremely useful service to me."
Basically, if you've already drunk that much of Apple Cult's kool-aid, then it's going to be tough to break the trend.

To be fair: yes, some people are just going to prefer Apple over an "open" system like Android, Windows, or Linux. Y'know what? That's fine. They all have benefits and drawbacks - the fact that they can coexist and provide us a choice of which to go with is wonderful, honestly.

I prefer having freedom with my information, personally, and so I would never touch an Apple product.

  8. Not really. My Android device has absolutely no bloatware. If you get the Galaxy Nexus (brother has it), it comes preloaded with nothing. Plus, even if an Android does come with useless apps, you can get rid of every one of them, quite easily. As the guy from that article mentioned, he likes simplicity. He clearly didnt put much effort into making his phone actually his, instead of just another stock iPhone. If he would have put a small amount of effort into an Android, he would know that bloatware only exists if the user lets it. If the user doesnt want it, they can easily get rid of it.
  9. Well, he did try an android, and he liked it for a few weeks, then he wanted his iPhone back. Also, I agree, both have benefits and drawbacks, however, in the end, it just comes to personal preference. I would never go near an Android device.
  10. I was trying to get my facts straight, that's why I'm asking him. And that statement was not necessary to the argument.
So should I believe all other holy books too? That is all supposedly God's word, or is everyone wrong but Christians?
By that logic I can say that Gandalf was real. Yeah he was! I don't need pictures or anything, that would be ridiculous, I just need to have faith in Tolkiens word!
  11. I am not ridiculing you, I am trying to give you some advice, from one Christian to another. ICC just congratulated this thread on being successful, and one of the main reasons it has been is because no one has made it personal. Lets try to keep it that way. :)

  14. Pffft! Gandalf IS real :p
  15. Well, only the Old Testament. ;)
  16. Yes, so? Jesus said it still applies. Everyone just seems to ignore that, however. Let's see what Jesus said:

How can anyone take this to mean anything else than that Jesus said that the old testament still applies, and will keep applying until heaven and earth disappear? This does not seem very open for interpretation.
  17. I think that is a good point. I think the answer to what he meant hinges on what He meant when He said "fulfill the law." You will also find various places in scripture where the Pharisees were upset with him for supposedly breaking the law.

  18. I think they got mad at them since they forgot what the purpose of the laws were. They didn't love god, but if they did, the commandments would follow naturally. Only knew that since I went to my friends youth group yesterday, lol.
  19. But you are definitely on to something. The fulfillment of the law was to be in a state of being where you would never need a law. The purpose of the law is to keep people from doing bad things that they may have an inclination to do. If someone has an inclination to rob a bank, there needs to be a law against robbing banks. If it would never occur to someone to rob a bank, they do not need a law stating that they should not rob a bank.

From a Christian perspective, the Jewish people needed many laws because they did not have the grace won for them by Christ's passion, death and resurrection. That is not to say that Christians do not break laws, but that they are called to a fulfillment of the law . . . to cooperate with the grace of God in purifying their desires. There are almost no people for whom this is not a lifelong process.

Consequentially this is why we have laws in EMC. For those who desire to break them. Ideally, players can through the good grace of the EMC community, come to appreciate what we have in EMC.

  20. The Judaism religion forbids it. The Bible only says in the Old Testament not to eat it, then that rule is removed in The New Testament. I didn't eat pork for a while when I first read the part of the Bible where it says not to eat it.... Then found out later I could :p
