smp7 - jungle outpost

  1. Best thing to is what Btribble said and it would be wise not make the railway run through Runewulf fortress I know that he wouldn't be happy about that. Best bet to connect that rail line near the Curry line which ends at the bottom the the Glass Tower in the building.

  2. Perhaps the bridge could wind around any constructions or be placed where it'd avoid them completely? I quite like bridges, it'd be a shame if a good construction opportunity was wasted because we weren't able to figure out how to work around others :(

  3. Runewulf is very picky about his buildings. He would not be happy to find that someone built a rail line over his fortress. :)

I like that idea myself. Or connect with the Rock Line.

Your best bet is to build it underwater/underground to avoid hostilities with other residents. Although, it would be nice to have a rail stop next to Crundu's (sp?) theater (if he's OK with it). :D

  4. I know, but if you give me time I'm sure I'll find a solution allowing for a bridge :)
If we can't, we'll do a tunnel, no biggie ;)

Best choice is underground railway a bridge right there would look very out of place and would conflict with other members projects.

  6. all do respect, we cant have small "countries" popping up in our land

  7. Well, Umbrella has an "Embassy" of sorts, and the Wintermoon Isles folks have an island just inside the wall towers in the south that is connected to them by a bridge. I'm not wholly opposed to a Lesotho type thing, but I'd prefer that it not be an eyesore in the downtown, and that it not block navigation by boat. We already have too much of the latter.

  8. One more thing, To make this a cube down to bedrock, you are looking at a roughly 256x256x256 block object. This is huge...

  9. The main residential area of the LLO is....
    Everywhere

  10. I must say I do not really like the idea of a seperate outpost growing within our losely set borders.
In the real world such situations are usually the result of a bloody history. And I can already see the conflict.
If you want something that will look like such an enclave there is another way I guess:

    1) Make your outpost close to the LLO but in an area the LLO has not build anything yet.
    2) Make your borders very clear so people know how close they can build to it
    3) Make it attractive for LLOers to build near it
    4 ) ....
    5) Profit! AKA:
This way the LLO would expand around your outpost and the result would be the same in the end but without the struggles of building some other outpost within the residential heart of ours.

  11. PS: In the early days I thought the Umbrella corp could become such a thing. However they made it very clear we should not go anywhere near their territory. Which was fine and there was no conflict over territory between Umbrella and the LLO.
If you have you outpost but allow LLO members to build close to it we will have another run of the experiment under different conditions. I would be eager to find out how it turns out.

  12. Caitlin?
lol it's fun looking for things like that
(sorry I'm a bit like an image ease dropper :))
Looks good to me but try to make it look attractive because tbh I think that a plain bridge is boring.
If you need any help with ideas for decoration then I may be able to help you :)

  13. Here is what i understood: Shtuff more shtuff even more shtuff will it have a lava wall?

  14. Not a cube. We'll start small, then expand over time by adding layers to the wall and breaking down older layers. Of course, we'll get permission from local project owners before doing this, and we can always expand twice as much in one side if we're completely blocked on another :)

I'd be okay with the first step of that.

I could create a small border near the walls, a fence marking the controlled expansion space surrounding the LSCC citadel. The walls are there because the idea of the LSCC citadel is that it's members-only. Members may enter and leave, but LLO members and outsiders will not be allowed inside unless they get a membership. The walls are extending to the height limit, that's to stop nonmembers seeing inside. It is a secret society.

As for the third step, I don't want to be spending too much time on the exterior. I doubt I'll need to work on it too much however. As I said, I plan for the LSCC to become the LLO's biggest trading partner, and I predict that this will create an ecosystem of storage buildings (or warehouses, if you like) owned by shop owners looking for a supply line or people looking for project supplies. If I am correct, this new LLO Town that shall spring up around the LSCC Citadel will be a departure from the normal LLO attitude of aesthetic construction, and will give the entire outpost a taste of industrial function as opposed to visual form. Personally, I believe my approach and the traditional LLO approach can go hand in hand. The Townies shall come for the great constructions of the LLO, and stay to take advantage of the revolutionary new industrial district I shall create.

  15. Oh, Caitlin's a very good friend ;)
I might put the bridge so it goes over the swamplands on its way to the desert (you'll see what I'm talking about when you open the live map)
As for the design, I'm thinking something like this:

  16. I like almost nothing said here, but I won't move to block your project. Don't be surprised if we wrap your citadel in rainbows and unicorns. ;)

Also, there are technically no "private" areas in the EMC wild. You just can't destroy other people's creations. You are welcome to look around anything I've constructed.
  17. I got unwatched. For the first time in the entire LLO thread I got unwatched now. -_-
