This whole issue started when Mojang put out 1.3. There are threads on EMC about it as well. Apparently town used to screw everyone over and now it's the wild. I can be in town just fine but I go to the wild and I have issues. I have optifine and everything set to off/low etc. I have render distance Tiny when I used to be able to set it to Normal and didn't need Optifine. I have to repeatedly open and close and remove/add items from chests/inventory because if I try to use it or when I open the chest later the stuff goes back to my inventory/back to the chest.
I am also refusing to go in-game until 1.4.3 is released - there are too many bugs at the moment, and your chest glitch has been fixed. Random minecart damage has been removed too, and alot of others. Sadly it won't be out for atleast 3 days. I'm only going on heavily modded servers like a certain DayZ style server.
No, the chest glitch isn't EMC-side, it's Mojang's fault. Aikar announced Mojang had it fixed a few hours ago on his current bugs thread.

hi guys, so sry to hear about the mass griefings out there. smooch has been keeping me busy with the creation of a 2nd town added to the pazzo empire. i checked my mansion recently with only a breaking in minor greifing. will try to be back there as soon as i can. good luck and cheers guys!
