  5. So I logged in and was gonna do some stuff since I wasn't feeling like crap. I got my stuff out of my chest, headed to the cobble generator that someone repaired for me, went to use it and thanks to lag I rubber-banded back outside, mined a block and was covered in lava because when I went to place the block I had, it disappeared from my inventory back to the chest it was in halfway across the stupid outpost. I died and all my stuff burned up. I am sick and tired of these glitches and nobody fixing them. I'm just about to give up.

  6. Don't give up

In this proud land we grew up strong
    We were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could fail

No fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
Ive changed my face, Ive changed my name
But no one wants you when you lose

    Dont give up
    cos you have friends
    Dont give up
    Youre not beaten yet
    Dont give up
I know you can make it good

Though I saw it all around
Never thought I could be affected
Thought that wed be the last to go
It is so strange the way things turn

Drove the night toward my home
The place that I was born, on the lakeside
As daylight broke, I saw the earth
The trees had burned down to the ground

    Dont give up
    You still have us
    Dont give up
We dont need much of anything
    Dont give up
    cause somewhere theres a place
    Where we belong

    Rest your head
    You worry too much
    Its going to be alright
    When times get rough
You can fall back on us
    Dont give up
    Please dont give up

got to walk out of here
    I cant take anymore
Going to stand on that bridge
    Keep my eyes down below
    Whatever may come
    And whatever may go
    That rivers flowing
    That rivers flowing

    Moved on to another town
    Tried hard to settle down
For every job, so many men
    So many men no-one needs

    Dont give up
    cause you have friends
    Dont give up
    Youre not the only one
    Dont give up
    No reason to be ashamed
    Dont give up
    You still have us
    Dont give up now
Were proud of who you are
    Dont give up
You know its never been easy
    Dont give up
cause I believe theres the a place
Theres a place where we belong

  7. Wow. Long thread, took me ages to read through it.
Joking, I barely read post 1.

Anyway, I've got a temp. ban, but as soon as it is over, my friends and I are planning to build a base on smp2's wild. We had one on smp4, but that was griefed by some 'friends' of mine. Maybe, if you are willing to help, we could spread this across 2 or more servers, making the LLO community the biggest in EMC.

  9. About the Brown Line near Downtown LLO (i think that's where it is) that was a creeper. i was standing there, and i tried to repair it, but some rails got destroyed.
  10. Making a flat land is pretty common thing for me.

Yeah, i think i will call my village YettiTown. I'm planning to rename it on 1 december. Any other suggestions?

  12. Learnin' Time!
Most of what you are describing is due to lag. It could be at your end, or it could be at the EMC host, or anywhere in between. I've noticed a lot of this recently. More than lag in this case, I actually suspect dropped packets. For those of you who don't keep up with this stuff, when you're playing Minecraft on a server, your client and the server send each other information as "packets". Since there is no guarantee that the packet will actually get there, there are built in systems for the packet to be sent again. Minecraft uses a protocol called TCP that does this automatically. Because the constant stream of "Here's a message, Let me know if you got it", "Yup, got it!" takes a fair amount of time, Minecraft can't actually wait for all this to happen. What it does is run two simulations. The server simulates the world, and your client simulates the world. When you are walking, building, destroying blocks, opening doors, etc., you are doing that in your local copy of the simulator, and that is what you see on screen. Your local copy then sends that info to the server, and the server updates its own info to reflect the changes. So, your client goes "Hey, my user just opened this chest", and the server (running a custom version of the code) says, "yup they opened the chest", or sometimes, "No they didn't!" (in the case of locked chests). This is why you will see a locked chest or door open and then snap shut. Your client is running vanilla code and knows nothing about locked items, protected blocks, etc., so the server countermands these changes. "Oh no you di'int!" In any case, when your connection to the server gets crappy, all this back and forth communication starts to cause the problems you're seeing. You have been destroying blocks on your client, and all those messages are getting lost, corrupted, or arriving at the server out of order. Basically, the server is going, "Wait, what? You never told me that! No that didn't happen either! Wait, now it did! No, you said you were over there. YOU ARE OVER THERE."
The long and the short of all of this is that there is no way for Mojang or EMC to "fix" this. Mojang can improve the "that crap is whack!" handling code, and EMC can move to another hosting company that has fewer issues, but beyond that, there isn't much "broken" that can be "fixed".

Finally, if you are running Minecraft on Windows, and you want to get some idea where the problems lie between you and EMC, you can run the following command in a command window:

    tracert smp7.empire.us

This command with try to talk to all the machines between you and the EMC servers, and will tell you how long communications with them took. There are other tools that can do further diagnosis, but this will usually tell you where the lag happens.

From my work I see most of the connections between me and EMC and can tell where the bottleneck is happening, but at home I don't get much info:

    1 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1
    2 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.0.1
    3 * * * Request timed out.
    {snipped more of the same}
    17 * * * Request timed out.
    18 84 ms 84 ms 83 ms 96.31.69.233 <- this is smp7's current IP address.

Note that 83 miliseconds is not too bad of a connection to the server, and I doubt I would be seeing much lag or rubber banding right now.

Note that there is one additional area where there can be hiccups. The servers themselves might be having performance issues. I won't go into the possible issues that could arise there, but I did notice that smp7 has had more problems since they rolled out 1.4.

  13. I lied, there is one other place where performance issues happen and that is on your client. In Minecraft's case, that usually happens because Minecraft uses a ton of RAM. Try shortening your view distance in Minecraft, closing other applications, or restarting you machine to remove "memory fragmentation".

  14. Just thought of another possible cause: Make sure that there isn't someone else in your house watching movies or doing anything else that hogs bandwidth such as downloading torrents. If you are competing for bandwidth with someone else, you're gonna have a bad time.

So yeah, he wants to join LLO. Watching on the livemap hes seems to be luuk2305 friend.

And now he likes me becase i told him that i will tell you guys he wants to join LLO. And got 20 rupees becase of that.
And then mba2012 likes this post like he always does to my almost every single posts i made.

  18. You should have at least one checkpoint along the run that they have to run through so that they don't cheat too much. I would suggest where it bows out to the right north of the farms.

Nice to see somebody else who does that :p Not so much for a living, but as a hobby.
